Cheap energy coming to an end?? Really??

it isn't "coming to an end"
it's ending now...
it has been ending for a while...
a long while...

and the ramifications are going to be ugly.

what happens when the shelves start getting more and more bare in the stores?
what happens when we cannot get reliable electricity, flights, transportation, fuel, food, parts, tools, and so much more....?
this affects every aspect .
and we didn't plan .
In fact we deliberately sabotaged and halted methods of conservation and alternate energy and alternate methods of doing just about everything...
that could have softened the blow...that could have eased us into a better way of ecologically and economically dealing with this place.

Show me countries that have plenty of natural resources to exploit and I will show you a a relatively content population and state with full shelves in the stores.. and all will either be capitalistic, democratic, democratic-socialist countries.
Show me countries that have little natural resource to exploit ..
and I will show you little on the shelves, a population not happy, a state that must be harsh to keep civil unrest down, and governments that range from the best being a social communist to military dictatorship to a militant theocracy.

Politics is impacted by availability of goods and service.
The harsher states will change little ...since there isn't much difference between little now...and a little less tomorrow on the shelves...
or 4 power outages today versus 6 power outages tomorrow...

But the West...the corpulent West ...that has enjoyed centuries of wealth ...
generations that have not had to do without...or with less..
Have no concept of conservation, of saving, of taking only what is needed not all they can carry....
the populations will riot...
Capitalism is done...
Democracies are next.
Autocracies and oligarchies
and all the "-ies" that favour a privileged caste.
...all are next after the fall of democracy ...

(frankly as great seeming as democracy is ..it is a ridiculous method of rule...voting amongst the entire population who has the best smile and says what everyone wants to hear ..to be the next ruler??? really?? ...One does not "vote" for who will be the dentist in town...one does not vote who will be the doctor in town...it is madness to do so...the person who is most
trained, learned, and qualified to do the job should be getting the job....so it is a good thing that this mad concept of rule is disappearing too.)

Bottom line...(and pertaining only to what is important )
how does this affect TMO and device and OS users everywhere?
It will mean slowly ...and most likely ...the impact will be over the next 100 years ...fewer and fewer devices released...fewer available...fewer companies...more stringent policing of the internet and so on...

this is the far ranging impact of a bill that has been long overdue...finally having to be paid.

Personally I am glad I have been working on my garden and planned hydro electric production using a pelton wheel on my stream.....it should keep me in free electricity for 3/4 of the year...with a surplus to sell back to the provincial hydro corporation

as costs mount ...electricity and food distribution will become increasingly hard hit...the first among many areas to take the wallop

Honestly. Cheap energy will come to an end. However. Something will emerge. All countries are trying to adjust. But Google, Apple. Amazon will solve it.

renewables aren't at the level where they can handle the demand.
If we properly started down this path in the 1950's ...when the tech was first introduced ...
Instead of ignored or deliberately hampered ...
we wouldn't be anywhere near the predicament we are in now.

it is hard to ignore the gain from oil.
it elevated us rapidly..
it enforced better working conditions for labourers ...

ten men working nonstop for a year ...
can't equate to the work output by a machine running just one barrel of oil ...
that is the direct reward ...
the direct parallel of oil to grunt labour...
that is the gain in labour output that oil has given us...

it is a very enticing model ...and no wonder why we have been reluctant to embrace alternatives.

I agree....
innovation over the next 50 years may help a great deal...
But it is going to shortly become an uphill battle in the areas of innovation...
Since we are running with those advancements and innovations INSIDE a system that is collapsing as we speak...
Shortly it will be akin to running up the "down" escalator as it keeps picking up speed....

To me our greatest ashivment is our ability to adjust.

But if we assume that 90% of our energy disappears when I wirite a dot .

Now. We have only 10%. I would assume that china, Russia, US and their allies would go all in to devide whats left. And after that only prioritize projects would get energy.

Wouldn’t be pretty but humanity would survive.

How should we solve this tricky energy issue? Before it spin out of control and governments and mega corporations seize what’s left...

After all. It might be up to us to solve it.

How about shutdown TMO mondays to save energy?
