I just stumbled upon
https://openrepos.net/content/werkwolf/funzel
(which looks nice, not owning a Gemini).

But this makes -of course- only sense on a Gemini.
And there are more one-single-device applications to be expected to come out. (e.g. https://openrepos.net/content/osetr/...y-turing-phone).
Naturally it is the device owner deciding what to install and there is an info in the package description. But would it not be nice to have an additional info field (a category or sub-category would be too much and confusing, I guess) so that Storeman (Warehouse?) can pop up a warning when trying to install on a non-appropriate device?

Sorry if this may have been discussed already.
And: we do not have a thread for Storeman? Could not find one with Maemo search...

Well, generally such warnings are not needed, since you(application developer) can restrict devices using package infromation and dependencies, i.e. package manager disallow install such package on wrong device. Restrictions can be per device type (Jolla1, Sony, Gemini, ports, etc) and specific sailfish os version (i.e. <= 2.0.1, >= 1.1.1 or whatever).

Publisher can also upload multiple package versions of application (for different devices) into single application node on openrepos: package manager will deal with dependencies and install latest sutable version.

Or per specific package.

To be honest, I do not understand why some developers include specific OS version dependencies. If you patch Package A, include a dependency on Package A, not the OS. That way, if Package A happens to be unchanged by an OS update, you, the patch developer, do not have to do anything. Win!

Anyway, the weakness of either approach is that you, the user, will only find out after you attempted to install said patch. After you have wasted time and money (if connected through the mobile network) downloading it. Which is kind of useless. I think what Peter is asking for is some kind of pre-filtering.
