Inspired by this and the default Pidgin look, I hacked up all three files to make an extremely compact theme, with smaller text, and less spacing. I also remove the date from the per-message timestamps, putting Pidgin-style "Conversation on [day]" headers above each day. Further, tapping a timestamp will expand it to show the day as well. I like it, and I put it out here in case other people are interested.

edit: Whoops, forgot some other features and a screenshot. My setup doesn't show the usernames. Instead, it colors the timestamp, so blue is for you, red for the other person (this could be easily changed by editing the html). It also puts space in between long pauses; 5 pixels for a ten minute pause, getting longer as the pause does. You can see this near the top of the screenshot:

I have a question:

Is it possible to add more smiley icons to the conversation program? If so, how??

Exactly what i would like !!!

I'd like to see full theme changes to the text message app, make the messages look like command prompt messages lol.

Or glass looking speech bubbles.

Hi,
I could need some help with the conversations font. I searched all over, but the only thing I found was changing the menu fonts using the perl one liner wich edits the gtkc files.. But I want the messaging font changed too, without replacing the original nokia ones on the phone. I made a custom font folder for my fonts wich is working fine. (/home/user/.fonts/)
Is there anybody who already figured out how to change the conversations font?
Thx in advance...

Do you mean the conversation list view, or single conversation font?
Conversation view gets it's fonts from /etc/hildon/theme/css/colors.css. e.g. SystemFont. That file comes from current theme.
