Ah, that one is a good choice too, except the only LIRC config file for it right now is an "irman" config file, which only works with IRMAN hardware.

Have you just tried searching remote hex codes in google I used to program prontos for awhile, was always able to find what I needed for the most part.

Interesting! I think I stumbled across this site a few months ago, but couldn't make heads or tails of the data... After playing around with the LIRC's system now though, I think I can see how it works. If I read it right, their system pretty much involves a straight-up mirroring of the data read off another remote. This should work for the majority of remotes... Thanks! I'll see if I can suck this data into my app as well.

Also, for anyone having trouble with QtIrreco (or just interested in trying out something different), please consider the app Pierogi. I wrote it out of my frustration at the QtIrreco design, and I think it has a much better underlying philosophy of how a remote control should perform. (Plus, I think it's much easier to use.) Here's a link to the app's announcement page:

I love the fact that qtireco doesnt have any philosophy and instead lets me design my own remote just as i want it, but...
The bar at the top in pierogi to change screens, is something i really miss in qtirreco.
(Or swiping/scrolling or just about any other way to simply change screens)

Or, is there any way to send ircodes directly from the commandline?
-If so, then i could implement it with a folder full of .desktop files instead

It's possible.

Make sure lircd has been started first though, or check on each ".desktop" file.

recently FAPMAN installed some updates (i think from devel) and it broke Qtirreco. Anybody know why this might have happened or how I can reverse the upgrades so I can save my weekend?
