please read the entire thread....

whilst using -k it only flashes the kernel, no files, apps, messages, porn, contacts, bookmarks will be lost

Canson

make sure ur typing

flasher-3.5 -k zImage-930mhz -f -R

not

flasher-3.5 -k zImage-900mhz -f -R

and if you have downloaded the one with DSP clock speed increase its

flasher-3.5 -k zImage-900mhz-500dsp -f -R

if you are getting this wrong should you really be doing it in the first place...

I already put the file in same folder as flasher.

and wrote like you said in cmd.

It worked yesterday with 900 mhz. But today i want try the 930 mhz file
I think the code is like
flasher-3.5.exe -k zImage-930mhz -f -R

After running for 1 day 2 hours at 900Mhz, I just noticed the phone was off.

I initially thought it was the battery that had run out but decided to verify this.

I took out the battery and placed it back in and it booted right up. The phone was very warm ( room temp is currently 34 degrees C ).

cat /proc/bootreason showed "pwrkey" but I know I did not accidentally press the power key.

The last thing I remember doing was downloading 6 new episodes in Gpodder with Tweego opened in the background.

It was running at 500Mhz (60% load when I last checked)

Have resumed the downloads and am monitoring closely.

NB
This is the first unexpected shutdown I've experienced since purchase.

anyone else noticed the 930mhz/500mhz dsp idles quite high compared to the 900mhz???

i noticed that even when idle the 930mhz will be sitting in a high frequency range surely meaning more wear on the processor and creating more heat and worse battery

i personally think the 800mhz or 900mhz is safest depending on what you use your n900 for if you need the extra power great but i would think that 900mhz setting would be more the adequote for most users if not all users

for the gains you get from the 930mhz compared to the 900mhz and the idle speeds of the two id stick with the 900mhz :-)

just what ive noticed over the last 24 odd hours

yep it does mate

i thik its a case of finding the balance between power and lifespan of components and battery

to be honest i think 800mhz worked pretty well however with 900mhz it idles at a reasonable speed 125mhz -- 500mhz depending on processess running and that is under stock speeds still

it just has the overhead space if needed

like you say though its a 50% increase which is a large increase whatever way you look at it

id think 800mhz would do and would probs be better on the battery

lets face it the n900 is powerfull anyways its just giving it that extra room for manouver we need to stop it maxing out and juddering etc in places

My phone switches off by itself sometimes (only the radio) if I have been using too much 3G for longer periods. That happened before overclocking though.
