If you have an old pair of Oakley sunglasses the micro bag is a perfect fit. It's a microfiber bag with a drawstring. It's like $6 so a bit more than what you list but is great for keeping the screen clean. :-)

uve ruined that lovely hardware now :-/ I hope thats scratches jst on the protector an didnt go thru to the screen.
Ive heard BodyGuardz are good but then again i havent used em yet so i dunno.
Ive currently got Zaggs on mine but i wud most definetly NOT recommend it as 1. gives orange peel effect 2. doesnt feel so great 3. very sticky an all the dirt an dust stick around all the edges an in around the cut out bits 4. not the most user friendly to install an not all bubbles fade out. ur lucky if ur 1 of those that does get em all out.

I've not been able to find anything about it either...

For anyone interested.
Have been using the Martin Fields screen protector for a few weeks now, goes on pretty easily, and fits more exactly than any other i've tried.
Also doesn't have so many cut outs to imagine it might stay on for longer..

I am going to try one of these cases.
I have a similar case from old treo 650, and it was the best case I ever used. I bought all kind's of leather and rubber cases for that old treo but I always came back to the magnesium case. It protected it the best.
So we'll see how this one works for the N900.

After I get it I will do a follow up.

In my opinion an aluminum case would add thickness to an already thick device.

I have had numerous aluminum cases from PDair over the years but the most memorable was the one for the E90. The gigantic black metal entity was immediately nicknamed Darth.

I was initially againt the design of the PDair aluminum case, but so long as it doesn't scratch the phone, I don't think it's that bad. My reasoning for this is that with the exception of the cheap hard and silicon cases which don't include a belt clip and are prone to broken tabs or crappy fit, there aren't any cases that don't require opening the case in some way to get access to the phone let alone the physical keyboard. At least with the PDair, the only time you need to open the case is when you are required to use the physical keyboard. Unexpectedly, I find that I tend to type better, faster, and more accurately on the virtiual keyboard so it shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience I would hope. Although I would have prefered a design that didn't require needing to be opened, it would probably have required tabs of some sort which I'm sure would have been prone to breaking, scratching, or loose fit. As for adding thickness, it doesn't look that bad IMO. All cases add some thickness with the exception of the Zagg Shield which is not a case and does leave the screen bezel unprotected.

I was pretty much settled on an Easecase, but being that it still requires protection when its not in the case, I may reconsider. Plus the silver PDair alu case video on youtube looks pretty hot!

another possible issue to consider apart from the increase in thickness is degradation of reception which, with the E71 at least, posed a problem for many users.

Here's a picture from a series I took of the E71 aluminum PDair case.

While the aluminum clad E71 was acceptable since it was very thin to begin with, I found the thicker devices I had did not fare as well. Three instantly come to mind: the E90, Glofiish M700, and HTC Kaiser. Since the N900 is of a similar thickness I am not willing to give these cases another chance.

Looking forward to future reports about thie N900 PDair Aluminum case.

Good point, almost forgot about that. I was hesitant with using a hard case for my 5800 because of this possible issue but I found it wasn't one after all. Of course that wasn't an alu case.

Another downside I can foresee is the exposed screen. A screen protector can only get you so far. Being that I'm very prone to Murphy's Law, all it takes is a knock on an edge to damage the screen while in your pocket, on your belt, or an unlucky drop.

Picking the right case is hard! Perhaps because there isn't an all encompassing solution...
