i noticed that even when idle the 930mhz will be sitting in a high frequency range surely meaning more wear on the processor and creating more heat and worse battery

i personally think the 800mhz or 900mhz is safest depending on what you use your n900 for if you need the extra power great but i would think that 900mhz setting would be more the adequote for most users if not all users

for the gains you get from the 930mhz compared to the 900mhz and the idle speeds of the two id stick with the 900mhz :-)

just what ive noticed over the last 24 odd hours
same here. mostly it clocks down to 500mhz, sometimes 125mhz. i think i'll switch back to the 900mhz image...

Can we use kernel-flasher(from the app manager) to flash these kernels?(i have a faulty usb port and dont trust flashing my device with Maemo Flasher 3.5)

Edit: and if we can...than how? (forgot to add this very important info)

It did feel hot when I noticed it off...

Anyway I have finished downloading the 6 videos (podcasts) without further problems. Am watching them now.

I've actually experienced this too with stock kernel a few times. The phone beeps that "battery dead" then it takes 5 seconds and shuts down. Then I put it back on and the battery meter shows ½ battery and it works without a problem.

sajman,

Thanks! Actually, I've read few pages for quite some time, there're too many post and it's quite messy, probably I've missed the part about "-k".

Btw, is there a dedicated thread for this flashing guide in detail? All the flashing guide I found over the web is about flashing the firmware.

Perhaps the thread starter can also summarize some instructions in the first thread including warnings in red bold text.

Thanks again!

Nope, my problem was different - the radio dies but the phone reports it working and when people are calling me, they get free signal but the phone doesn't ring on my side. If I try to call someone it reports some strange error and fails. A reboot fixes everything.

flashed 850mhz/450dps, can get in OS, but random reboot happens while watching youtube, reflashed to 850mhz, very stable, no problem at all watching youtube while bt downloading in background. so i just wondering is there any chance for a 800mhz/450dsp or even 800mhz/500dsp?

thank you very much.

PS. thank you all again for such a great thread.
