I've used plasma mobile...
I believe ..a budget device is not what plasma mobile needs to run well....
it needs lotsa guts to do it justice.

when XFCE crashes
we can easily paddle around in a terminal and fix it.

When KDE crashes people get injured.

if their budget device comes with at least 2gb of ram then i think it would be enough. i have never used plasma but i have used plasma desktop by the way which is a little resource hog so i am using mate now.

And it has 2gb of ram...

XFCE can crash??? What on earth would you have to do to it to provoke it that much?

That was such a long time ago I cannot remember,
but I did see lightdm get lost a couple of years ago.

When have you used it the last time? There have been a lot of improvements regarding resource hunger. Of course, compairing it with xfce or lxde it's a beast. But at least a a beautiful and mighty beast. And it runs much smoother on old hardware than gnome or unity.
