hi qole,

just to let you know...since the installation was unsucessful yesterday, I eventually reinstalled the OS2008 and immediately downloaded the easy-debian from maemo.org site without installing other applications. I was a bit "anxious" when checking the file was taking sooooooooo long without any hour glass showing. But finally I see the Congratulations box.
Thanks for your previous replies anyway.
I hope I dont' have to come back to this particular topic again

very "unfortunate". after i have so-called successfully installed the image file, I still not able to open all debian related applications. I have the following message appears ..
window title : EZ-CHROOT ERROR
error message:
mount failure!
media/mmc2/debian-final.img.ext2 failed to mount on loop1

device-mapper.reload iocti failed: Device or resource busy
Commnad failed
mount: mounting/dev/dem-1 on /debain failed "

Could anyone tell me which is missing ?

Thank you very much

Qole,

It seems that after installing Abiword the dependencies for Kasehakase get screwed up. When trying to launch it, I end up with:

Code:
/debian has a qmount already!
/media/mmc2/debian-final.img.ext2 already mounted on /debian...
Everything set up, running chroot...
Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0.0".
kazehakase: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/arm-linux-eabi/gtk2.so:
undefined symbol: gtk_file_system_error_quark
~ $
Yes, I know: that damm Abiword again! I don't use Kasehakase anyway so this is nothing important... is it still the case that it is dangerous to attempt doing an "apt-get upgrade" of the easy-debian image?

Wendy -- I got this same error out of the blue recently (my Easy Debian install was working fine up 'til then), but after powering the tablet down and re-starting it cleared up. Does that do anything for you?

hi bdraws,

No...it doesn't clear up the mess after reboot. All Debian related applications I started still contain with the same messages.
I have tried all I could with my very limited understanding from this site.
I guess, for the moment, I have to live with the basic interface and functions on this N810 and hopefully I'll find someone to "hack" it for me.
I continuously tried with different sequences/order in downloading the applications and keep on reinstalling the OS2008 updates. Unfortunately all these just didn't work.
I don't know what else I could do anymore.

Just a heads-up, everyone.

maemobox.org, my current host, is going offline on Tuesday night, April 28th.

This will be the end of Easy Debian, unless I find another free host.

So if you want to get a last-minute copy of the Easy Debian image file, get it now!

Oh man, that's terrible news! Is there a way we can chip in via PayPal or something to help you serve this up?

Best,
Jon
