I'd like to confirm that instructions on post#1 works perfectly.

I did not read the error received closely, I did not have bash installed! I'm quite ashamed Now, testing time!

PS: DIDN'T OVERLOAKED (600 MHZ)

- stage 1:
Open sites Engadgetmobile.com, maemo.org
Open gpodder
open contacts
open mediaplayer, play 'N900's default video
open opera, load maemo.org in opera
results: w/o patch it took 4, with patch 7.
- stage 2:
program switching: w/o, 6, w 10 (multi taksing)
browsing, scrolling in browser w/o, 7.5, w 7.5
scrolling in Gpodder's all episodes view while loading page in background: w/o, 5, w 7 (at least)
scrolling contacts w/o, 4, w 7 (get s w 10 when overloaked to 805)
scrolling Hildon-desktop w/o, 6, w 10
- stage 3, 'stress test',
i don't have fennec

- stage 4: rating performance of multitasking, browsing, closing windows
one line: multi task is super awesome with the patch


So for me the patch makes a huge differences
as for many others here


EDIT:
each 100mhz of overcloaking with the patch
is just like 200mhz overloaking with out the patch

i have just modded my conversations with conversation modder and now the movements are smoother more responsive than befors the script.

why am i getting the following error after applying tar xzvf speedpatch.tar.gz command

if you are using winscp then you can do this step on your own , just extract the files on your desktop then place the extracted files in /home/user/MyDocs and then follow the other steps

Well , I don't know if this patch made a big difference to me , all I can say it's with 16 web pages open + wifieye with autorefresh + bluemaemo connected + conky I can play angry birds very well and I can watch a video also very well . By the way , my n900 it's overclocked to 1000 (250/1000) . Also menu it's moving just like no app it's open and multitasking UI it's moving well , not perfect but very well with these apps open .

Yes, I started from a clean, just booted device each time (did I forget to mention that?)

nope i am not using winscp.. where i am doing worng and how can i make it right

Here's how i successfully installed the patch

downloaded bash4
http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...l/bash4/4.2-1/

installed through app manager

then instead of
bash ./speedpatch.sh
i executed
bash4 ./speedpatch.sh

the patch was installed successfully now i am doing some benchmarking to find out if my device is faster than before.
