The crafty penguins popped up around "launch" time. http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=371157
Maybe if the penguins were in charge of the N900 launch/shipments we would have our toys now.

Sorry Nokia, couldn't help myself.

You'd have to take that up with them. But these people are going to have instructions on what to tell people, so it's probably not all that far off the mark.

Just try show a little patience, really. It's not going to be far off.

The Reps I have talked to at Nokia USA are all a bunch of idiots. I already had to replace my order once because of a system problem so i lost my place in line from september 13th to October 26th. So i got a call just now from nokia saying there was another problem that i have to replace my order. He told me that they already started shipping on Tuesday of last week to the pre-orders in september.. I say Bullsh*t because I believe that the first people to place a preorder would be on this forum and they would have recieved it by now if shipped tuesday. He could not give me a straight answer as to why my order was canceled it sounded like he was referencing my first order. then magically i was disconnected when i was put on hold when i asked if i would get another 15% discount on the 15% I already received. So I called them back and talked to another rep he puts me on hold and comes back and says everything is ok. I should be recieving my tracking number through email. I asked him when. He said he could not tell me. I asked when will it ship. He said he said maybe next week. what the hell, he just said they started shipping on tuseday of last week. why cant he tell me if I will get my phone next week. all bullsh*t.

I have just called Nokia Flagship Store in NY City. They said they didn't have the phone and they expect to have it in about two weeks...

Unless those you talked to are full of it, Nokia is being dishonest. "Weīre shipping", "Houston we have a lift-off" (take-off) etc. etc.

You canīt say that you are shipping and then nothing happens for 2-3 weeks or more. Sure my packet may not reach me in the first 1-3 weeks, I may be further down the que than someone else, but surely some people should be getting handsets shipped to them.

It takes $3 flowers 1-3 days from the time they are cut in South Africa to reach the customer in Northern Europe or North America through local flower boutiques. How long can it take Nokia to ship $550-$750 handsets?

Nokia could be like Apple, and not give any information about a product until it's already sitting in stores.

On the other hand, they could tell us once they've finalised the product and when production has begun (which is what they've done).

Would you rather that they had not told us yet? It could be better for PR... But I think they thought they were doing the community a favour when they made the announcement, keeping us in-the-know, showing us some respect; not trying to piss people off.

Hence, I think we should thank them and just be patient!

If Witter isn't working for you, eg crashes/doesn't start, gives errors etc etc. Please run it from x-term using:
run-standalone.sh python2.5 /opt/witter/witter.py

This will generate diagnostic output. Without this I cannot help you.
