can anyone tell me if its safe to do this update please???

As the previous update via NSU did not work and hanged at 1sec remaining!
I had re-flash it using the flasher tool.

After reflashing and before installing anything else it might be useful to do cleanup in /opt at least. Otherwise you will have some dead weight there which will be hard to find later.
This info is somewhat troubling.

Now that this firmware has been released, I'd like to completely wipe the device when I install it so that it's as though it shipped OOTB with this firmware installed.

There's absolutely nothing on there that I care about keeping, so I have no interest whatsoever in data being left behind in /opt and /home/user...

What exactly are my options? Should I flash with the eMMC image, or does that come with other possible issues I should be aware of?

Or should I do a normal flash and then rm -rf /home/opt /home/user

Help greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately the best solution is to wait.

There is no other option in the middle of an update. You could try to shut it off and restart it in hopes that it was just some tiny little unimportant thing it got stuck on, but odds are it will not come up correctly and you will have to reflash.

Space can't be the issue in your case. I successfully updated with only 40 MB free.
Maybe you got some conflicting packages so that the update cannot work. Either find and remove those (stuff from extras-devel perhaps) or flash via NSU or the command line flasher-3.5 tool.

Did you update it from the exclamation mark from the status area or in Application Manager ( Maemo 5 ) ?

Please help!
