I think you could create more wallpapers like liquid-metal or meegostone and let the user chose from that ones. Or maybe create two or three wallpaper who is matching with each scheme and let the user choose from that ones.
The idea is that you can not choose the wallpaper from DarkRed to Pleego. It's not from the picture!

Do you got my point?
This sounds like too difficult for me to do (sorry, I'm not expert on coding with QT) :-/

I think without backgrounds the themes will have smaller size and will be lighter for the CPU - this is only my way of thinking.
I think there has to be some image as background. Package size would definitely shrink down, but then again... wallpaper is a big part of theme and makes the phone look as I think it should look.

If I leave wallpapers out then I'm gonna get tons of complains like "why aren't desktop widgets visible / text well readable on my XYW -background". You know So I must include at least some walls with the theme which I think are working nice with widgets I've drawn.

I don't think so because after I have applied a new theme I can change the background and after a reboot (to fully load all theme files) the background is still the same as before the reboot.

Yes, but if the situation is like this:
- you set the scheme and have option not to overwrite your current backgrounds
- you reboot and during the reboot OS reads that you're using this theme and it has these backgrounds so I'll load them up UNLESS user has manually set some other background set to use (other than theme's backgrounds).

After that you can ofcourse change the backgrounds to what ever you want, but that's how you already do it :-D

This could be doable if I knew how changing background-sets is handled by the OS. I only know that changing active theme is done by simple command line command:
/usr/bin/personalisation /path/to/the/theme/to/activate

I'm using the DarkBlue scheme, so the problem with text input (the input box in Qt apps being black), is also in the main package (and probably also in addon pack 1)...

I'm not yet sure how will I do the last part, but the first one would be easily doable.
I would very much like this option: the first thing I have to do after upgrading is change my backgrounds and lockscreen back.

It was "introduced" in the latest version after compressing/optimizing the .png files...
