Yes, they are different accounts. You only need to enable remote discovery once, after that it should automatically find your server and if you use basic auth, it's asks for your username and password.

You can store your username and password if you don't like typing them, but you need to do it from xterm:

Code:
gconftool-2 -s /apps/knots/username yourusername -t string
gconftool-2 -s /apps/knots/password yourpassword -t string

You don't need to use SSL if you don't want to. Under server settings, make sure Use authentication without SSL is set to Yes and Use SSL (enables authentication) is set to No.

SSL only encrypts the traffic between your machine and the client, but it slows down the client a bit. It shouldn't affect the streaming, because video streams aren't encrypted.

So did you get it working with picture/sound in your home network? If so, 3g should work too if you opened/forwarded ports 1978 and 19780-19790. You can test your network settings with a browser, just start a video stream using the Browser profile, click on the 'Hide window' button, go to Settings and click on 'Check server accessibility from the internet'.

Two user questions:

1) Is there a way to 'skip to next song'? I can see skip to next album and skip to next artist but not to the next song,

2) Sometimes I want to play a full album without necessarily having to create a play list every time - is there a way for songs - when played within an album, or songs withing the same artist for that matter, to play the next one automatically?

If you click on the play artist/album buttons or play a playlist, you get the pannable playlist where you can skip to any song by clicking on the song. With videos, you get the back/forward buttons.

If play album or play artist buttons only play one song, those albums must be missing the album/artist tags.

To easily add them, you can use the Edit Media section. Just search for the album by path name for example so that all songs become listed.

Click on the select all button to select them all, then under Tags select album. If it's not listed under tags, press the "Add tag" button and add "artist". Once it's selected, click on "Add value" and type the album name.

Then under "Action" select "Set tag" and press the "Apply to selected". Now all songs have the album tag. Repeat the same for artist if it's missing too.

Hey ukki, I'm trying to pad my life experience by watching real shows and movies.

So yeah, I'm currently learning how to rip my DVDs.

But to ask ahead of things, can Knots handle the optimal settings for mplayer?

Thanks buddy.

Trust me, the n8x0 profile is pretty much the best it can handle when streaming. You can try tweaking the values a bit (Dawson's Creek isn't exactly fast paced action), but you have to remember that streaming takes its toll compared to playing stuff from memory card.
