I have about 1K contacts, maybe that does matter?

I don't think it should affect the CPU cycles while idle. You shouldn't notice it while idle other than the memory footprint.

Did it get any better after you uninstalled it? How did you detect the io problem? Was it using CPU cycles when idle? How much?

Very strange...

Has anybody here experienced any problems with MyContacts while idle? Anybody with 1K+ contacts?

I need more clues in order to try to find the problem

Yes, the phone returned back to normal completely.

I also sync with google via nuevasync, maybe sync operations may affect mycontacts performance?

I am sorry to hear that removing mycontacts fixed the problem

When MyContacts is idle you have only the main application loop running and not doing anything. While the widget is visible (the screen is lit and you can see it on the desktop) you will get a refresh every 3 seconds to update your contacts status.

If you ever decide to give it another try let me know of anything that you find and I will work with you to figure it out.

I would try to have it running by itself with all the "online accounts" (skype, facebook, ...) off - you should get 0% CPU after the initial loading. Then add the accounts back and then any other applications that you think may deal with contacts and/or online accounts.

The only two things that should stand out is when it is loading the contacts for the first time and that it will "hold" some memory. I can't think of any reason to take CPU cycles or disk io.

EDIT: MyContacts on my phone while idle reports 0.0% CPU.
Using Conky, I get top RAM and VMM usage:
modest = 22.4 M and 65.6 M
Xorg = 18.0 M and 35.1 M
mycontacts = 15.0 M and 123 M
osso-addressbook = 14.8 M and 31.7 M

CPU usage topmost:
Xorg, conky, (third one kept changing - but was never mycontacts)

Disk IO:
All zero. None mycontacts.

I don't see mycontacts as being the problem. Modest on the other hand....

I suppose that the appearance QT bug with CSSU (transparent weird backgrounds) is waiting for the next CSSU update, right? The app works as always but now it's so... ugly. It's a nice and useful app, but now it's only useful for me (still it's good ).

To be honest I haven't installed the CSSU so haven't verified the problem. I only have one n900 and updating it will make me loose the ability to check how my applications work w/o it (most of the users)

I know other developers are struggling to fix their applications to work with CSSU but haven't heard about any solutions. Ideally it is something that can be fixed on the CSSU and will not require changes to each individual application.

Please make sure to let me know if you find out of any Qt application that has been fixed and I will try to implement the same fix.

It's ok. On the next CSSU update I'll let you know if it has been fixed. If not we will see.
