Actually this is not a bug - this is a feature, as having access to the phone data while off is considered a security breach. Personally I think that it is better that way.

Even I have the same issue. No birthdays. Plus conversations widget is not working for a friend. It won't show up in the widgets menu.

Might try and update when at home connected to my WLAN.
If you look up a few posts to My Earlier Post about O2 you'll see that I am on O2. Took a bit but updated fine.

What are you using to update your calender? Hermes?

Have you reinstalled the widget ensuring that it is the latest release?

Yeah... though but it would be pratical at least for music and video, the system part of the N900 could stay secured. It's the same has having a microSD card or something...

Downloading now and then flashing with flasher.
Is it safe?
Perfectly safe, all the non-UK people here have done it, and it worked flawlessly. Just remember to backup first so you don't have to reinstall all the installed apps and settings by hand after flashing.

If i was to use maemo flasher whats the warrenty like on this thing, will i loose it?
Flasher works without any troubles with all win 32bit versions. And for 64-bit versions you have detailed instructions on the Updating the tablet firmware wiki.

Flasher does not void the warranty.

And also do iflash emmc after or before maemo firmware flash?
Yes, but you need to flash it after flashing the firmware and without reboot (remove the -R from the flasher command line when flashing FW). I don't see why would you flash eMMC anyway, but that's the correct way to do it. Keep in mind that flashing the eMMC will remove everything, including backups, so make sure you copy those on your computer prior to flashing.

YES - for the Middle East and North Africa. I can't vouch for that though as I installed the Global version.
