1097 may have resurfaced then.

The next time this happens--if you're using an N800--pop out the camera. That can unlock the display. Additionally, retrying the unlock sequence after allowing the display to fade to black has worked for me in the past and may be worth attempting.

Updated map can be installed from http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com...lo/user/m/map/ also for chinook.

Installed map_2.2.8.421-1_armel.deb on my N800 with chinook and it seems to work. Only difference that I can see is that Wayfinder changed their logo. There could be something else too but I don't have the license.

Really? That works in Chinook? Is the Map data itself any more recent?

Map data is downloaded independently of the map software. There is a download tool inside the map gui.

...from which I'd be very surprised if getting maps through got you updated maps from just using a newer version of the package.

It's possible. Just not very likely, IMHO.

I tried to browse quicky through the +600 posts in this thread... The name is " What do we know about Diablo?" but I still have absolutely no idea of what you guys know!!

Is there a simple summary of the changes/new features somewhere? I'm just curious -- thx

Not really; I suppose it could go in the wiki, but imho skimming 600 posts isn't all that hard; I've done it on other topics...

Besides, I'm not inclined to go to the trouble of organizing and wikifying whatever knowledge I have, when I know the utility of that work will vanish in ~a month.

There's another difference: they left some debuging messages that I don't remember being there in the previous version (maybe they aren't new, but I didn't notice them before).
The messages seems to imply the thing is running java....

well, I'm just asking for a short summary with confirmed info, for the non-hacker

Faster? A-GPS? New browser? New UI? Can I use OS2008 software? big changes in the distro? VOIP+video? New cool features? etc.

I guess someone, somewhere wrote a little preview on his blog

Mmm, found this. Is that all?

http://www.tabletpcreview.com/default.asp?newsID=1171

* A change in the email client from the current one to a version code-named Modest
* Tweaks to the microB web browser. However, the rendering engine will still remain the same as Firefox 3 Alpha 1, just as the current version has
* An improved network switcher that will facilitate handing off connections from Wi-Fi to WiMax and vice versa
* Improvements in the finger-UI performance and launching
* A several enhancements to system libraries to improve performance and speed.

Diablo will run almost all of the same programs as the current operating system (OS2008, code named Chinook). However, there will be different repositories for those that choose not to update to Diablo in order to minimize confusion about application compatibility.
