Well... the echo userspace to scaling_governor seemed to work... (It did not give error.)

The second part to echo new speed setting to scaling_setspeed did not work: It said "Permission denied"...

EDIT: The first part may not have worked: After I run cpufreq-info I do not see the "userspace" as available governor... maybe I need to reboot the N800 for that change to take effect?

UPDATE: Changing the upper and lower limits work fine. I can not set it to fixed frequency (-f option) due to an error message saying "userspace governor is not loaded."...
After "echo userspace" do you still get the "userspace governor is not loaded" error?

Just rebooted the N800 and checked the scaling_governor file. It only contains text "ondemand". I tried again to echo userspace into it with the same result: No error is shown, but the "userspace" does not stick in there...

I think the userspace kernel module (cpufreq_userspace.ko ?) has to be present, which I don't know if it is, and loaded for the "echo userspace" line to take effect and cpudyn to work.

Where? Can't find any mention by Mara of whether that kernel module is present/loaded. In other news, gconf-editor might also be able to change the governor (if the kernel module is loaded):
