42-18, while the N800 one is 44-4
It's 42-19

Does 42 and 44 isn't the week number of the compilation of the firmware ?

The Skype thing is annoying, but it will be here soon.

One big plus I've noted in the beta release is that several bugs in the keyboard and text entry have been fixed. Most notable is the bug that closed the on screen keyboard when a block of text was selected. THAT was annoying!

You're right, 42-19 , I've forgotten the last update

No idea about the week thing...
We are now in the 48th week of the year... 4 weeks before releasing a beta ?

Don't know...

For example the first os version of the n800 was the "Software Edition 2007 version 2.2006.51-6"

As it was available at the start of the new year

The reason Skype won't install -

if test $REL1 -lt 1 -o $REL2 -lt 2007 -o $REL31 -lt 42 -o $REL32 -lt 19; then
blah blah blah
exit 1
fi

in preinst

i.e. 44 is NOT less than 42 but 4 IS less than 19

I installed the n800 IT 2008 beta and I'm able to install Skype from the application manager without any problems. (downloaded, installed, started it... used it... works fine.)
