Looks interesting, although I can just see a nasty accident happening if the n800 is dropped / the adaptor bumped etc...

Any chance of one that's say, a 10cm long cable?

Sorry about the quirks with international addresses; normally the items we sell are large/high dollar value, that are both expensive and potentially risky to ship internationally so we haven't spent a lot of time working out the international compatibility kinks in the checkout, but I'm glad that it ended up working for you. If any one has any problems checking out/etc just send me a PM and we'll get things sorted out.

The initial batch of adapters is long gone, so anyone who placed an order dated Feb. 2 in the confirmation will ship on Monday, but those who were after that will have to wait until my next shipment comes in (due in on Tuesday, so should start shipping again Wednesday/Thursday). I've got a much larger batch coming in this time so that should help to avoid delays like this again (when I ordered the first batch I didn't realize how popular these would be).

As for that other posted adapter, it appears to be the same one that I'm mod'ing as it does not have pins 4 + 5 shorted as far as I can tell.

I'm still trying to source an appropriate dongle-style cable for those who are interested in that route; if anyone can find one that's equivalent to the adapter but in dongle form, please post a link.

Thanks!
-Rob

Aaaand I've ordered one as well. Since I'm in TO I'd imagine it will get to me the same day as my new N800! Yay.

Update for everyone: I've sent out the first batch of adapters today and have got a better handle on the shipping costs:
International (Air) is still flat $11.00
US Standard Mail is now flat $8.00
Canada Standard is now flat $4.00

Those cover all handling/processing fees. All methods should be on average about 4-7 days shipping time (so the post office tells me). Anyone who's placed an order already will be credited appropriately when your order gets processed and shipped (those of you who got in on the initial batch will have gotten the confirmation emails noting this today already). As I stated before the next shipment of adapters should be getting to me within the next day or so, so for anyone who's ordered already you should be looking for a ship date within the next 2-3 days.

I want to point out that anyone who is ordering now should bare in mind that again there's going to be a few days of lead time before I can ship as I've got to wait on supplies (and mod'ing the adapters and thoroughly testing them takes a bit of time ontop of that!); the demand for this item has been quite staggering and I've had to keep adjusting my stock estimates accordingly.

Thanks!

If you purchase that adapter, just plug it in. As long as you have OS 2008 installed and your device is supported without external power (i.e. keyboard, USB thumb drive, etc) then it will just work.

See the Wiki for more details on supported devices.

Thanks!

LOL. I just ordered mine as well and live in the GTA. Shipping within Canada is generally pretty quick. Not sure where Rob/Jolouis is working out of, but in my experiences mail going out over Canada Post within Ontario can be as quick as next day.

Great work Rob! I look forward to the dongle. Saving me a lot of potential headache with offloading pictures off of digital cameras and uploading them on my upcoming month long tour of Asia (sans full laptop of course).
