Try to install it from xterm using dpkg ('dpkg -i mplayer_1.0rc1-maemo.26.n8x0_armel.deb ') and check error messages. Have you edited any mplayer configuration files in /etc/* by the way?

As far as i know mp4 files play better in the default media player than mplayer. I really dont understand how the mplayer which can play so many formats at higher bit rates cannot play the mp4 and mov files wheras the media player plays them. Am i missing something here?
I saw some little speed improvements with the last update. No sound problems in general. Thanks again: excellent work!
One question... I want to use the lowres=1 option. How is that possible without editing the config file?
(Because I don't want lowres=1 to be always enabled and the wide parameter found in mplayer documentation, is not very useful as it covers only the x axis. Except if there is a way to add y axis as well)
I tried running mplayer from xterm but it produces an error.
What exactly should i write? eg. mplayer - lavdopts lowres=1 media/mmc/file
Is there a way for an integration in the UI a method of easily adding parameters?
Also, is it possible to boost sound to levels after 100% Other Mplayer flavors have software sound boost but i don't know if it can be done with our hardware.
