After I updated to 0.7-2 I can't add items to the menu. (I'll admit I haven't tried adding anything during the past few updates so I can't say whether this problem started with this update.) I tap 'Add', tap 'Select from installed applications', pick an item, tap on 'OK' and it exits with a box that says "Internal error. Application 'Contaol panel' closed."

I also find that if I start Personal Menu maintenance from the Control panel, and then tap 'Edit' without selecting anything that it exits the program and bounces me back to the desktop.

Weird stuff.

Pushwall: I can fix the "Edit" on no selection crash. I fixed it for delete, up, and down, but forgot edit!

I also had your "cannot add anything" problem, but thought it was due to my development path. It might be a problem with your ~/.personal_menu.rc file. Try opening it and saving it, and seeing if that fixes the problem.

Thanks for your report.

Edit: I have fixed the "Edit" button crash. It will be in the next release.
Edit II: I found and fixed the "Adding application" problem. It was a typo in my code. For the time being, add you "Select from installed application" by double clicking on the item, not by pressing "OK". I will upload a fix now for 0.7-3

great app, btw. I use it every day.

I just wanted to clarify: If I uninstall my previous installation, then re-install (from the repository), I won't lose any configuration data from the previous installation? I only ask because this seems contrary to how most people (or most people like me, or maybe just me) would interpret the un-install process to work...

briand,

I don't have any postrm that deletes the ~/.personal_menu.rc, so you should be fine

I simply enabled red pill mode and "forced" it to install. Worked fine after a reboot.

I found the "Use system font style for headings" and unchecked it. I selected Sans Bold 12 and a color of Red. The control panel applet shows my correct settings, however, they don't show in the menus. I even rebooted. The menus still show the same old system font for the headers, and the control panel says I've overridden that.

Did I miss something?

0.7-3 has hit the repos. It fixes the two problems mentioned earlier in this thread: crash when clicking "Edit" with nothing selected, and crash when clicking "Ok" when adding desktop files.

I am looking into frasej's issue with some style options not taking affect.

If you find any issues, post them here and I will do my best to fix them quickly.

fiferboy, You said, in a pm, that I had a lot of items on my personal menu. Well, here's what it looks like:

I love this app.

frasej: Definitely a lot of items!

frasej's problem was to do with using "<" and ">" in header entries. This seems to be a limitation of GKeyFiles (which I use for the configuration file) although I have never seen mention of it.

Maybe I will switch to XML for the configuration file, but I don't know of a way to do that without breaking everyone's original. Maybe if the XML file doesn't exist, load the rc file. Then when it is being edited, dump to XML instead of rc and use that from then on?
