Don't guess, google.

Cortexes can run old code, and there are cortex based systems out there right now with Linux on them, Beagles and Pandora prototypes perhaps most notably. I'm sure Nokia doesn't have any prototypes, because if they did, Texrat would have told us and got fired.

You might be able to run the user space stack, but the kernel is a completely different story; even if the cortex can run arm11 code, that's just a small part of the whole SoC.

I do have seen some early example from TI running hildon on a labrador, but that's anyway old stuff.

Sorry but; what are we supposed to see on the flickr site?

I do see the desk where someone seems to be working on something.

I hope all or most of the software development is not being done there.

Of interst is that the N800 and N810 have the same CPU.

Are there are media players that take advantage of the MM power of that processor? Are there any games that take advantage of the PowerVR processor?

I agree that development is happening. The question is will it be enough? I don't know any linux and I do not have the time otherwise I'd probably see whether I can help.

The problem for devs however is that the platform (if that is the right word) is changing so fast.

So don't take the above comment as a complaint.

They will need a lot of help to get good stable software for the new IT. As we've seen before with the different OS's of the tablet. Stablity on one platform does not mean stability on the new one.

Now we are changing the CPU as well as the OS.

The devs really have their work cut out for them this time.

Maybe it has already been publicized a lot, but point 7 from the Errata is quite important.

It's a Beagle Board (an OMAP3530 device), apparently, running Maemo. If that doesn't mean anything to you, I recommend you troll google a bit.

Pretty much every other N-series device uses an OMAP CPU and has PowerVR drivers.

All platforms change fast, Maemo doesn't change all that much faster than any other. Agility is the name of the game in software development.

Yes the drivers are there so the software can be coded. But was it? My guess is that there was not enough time.

When I said fast I was speaking comparatively. Thinking of Palm OS. Very old. You can get old software to work on new OS and new hardware.

Then again the Nokia ITs are relatively new. Perhaps they will also get to that stage.

Looking towards September 19th, with anxious eyes.
