Okay, you've beat me into submission. I tried the "Upgrading from Diablo SDK" install option and it didn't go so well. I think I hosed it a month ago while playing around with webkit stuff. Anyway, I'm starting from "scratch." This will take a while, but when I have things up and running, the first thing I'll try and compile is the HIM example. More as I know.

It's also included in the nice, lightweight Mer virtual image.

Works with most non-Hildon apps, too. If it doesn't pop up when you tap an editable field, a center-dpad press pops it up. Kudos to the Mer team for putting the stylus keyboard back into the Fremantle UI.

This is excellent. The Mer guys have been all over it. Wouldn't their stuff just pop right in to Maemo 5?

Show-stopper: we do a trick, hildon-input-method framework is an older version where stylus method still worked, until we get a finger keyboard. Patches to HIMF are more than welcome to re-enable stylus keyboards, as thumb keyboards seem hard-wired.

Thanks for the heads up. That probably explains what I've observed. The vkb plugin I built in the Beta SDK works on my tablet but only loads in the SDK. But to clarify, by older version do you mean the Diablo 4.1.2 HIMF?

I'm guessing you read Stskeeps reply. Well, this was my fear. I was optimistic as long as my skepticism allowed me. I have little doubt that Stskeeps took the most parsimonious path to get the sylus keyboard working in Mer, thus, for all intents and purposes, and for the time being, I conclude that Nokia broke stuff. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. If I'm not, when I have a moment I will file a bug report if someone has not already done so.

I love that it's a mini Linux PC that I never get bored with.

- I use it on trips for skype calls and video calls with Gizmo.
- At work it plays XM-Sirius satellite radio online over wifi for more than 5 hours straight on one charge.
- It's an instant on device for quick web surfing and emails 24/7.
- I transfer files to and from my phone via bluetooth and to and from my other PCs via SFTP.
- I monitor my volunteer fire department's servers using an ssh terminal connection.

Yes, I am aware of what's going on with it.
