I tried it with the free Windows Media Connect from Microsoft.
It worked - but I had a couple of issues and I didn't find configurtin option to get around hem:
a) Windows Media Connect treats .mp2 files as video ... but are audio recordings from digital sources here. Since MediaSreamer doesn't play video yet, so they don't appear. (At least I assume that is the reason)
b) Can't see files mounted through mapped drive on a remote file server. Does UPnP tell the ckient where the files are rather han proxying them? If it does then I presume that MediaStreamer can not access folders via UNC.

See my posting immediately before yours.
I used Windows Media Connect 2.0 - free download from MS.

The Commercial Media Server from Nokia is not from Nokia at all; Its a spin of or is it a progression of a media server that Philips used with its first Hardware UPnP players like my SL300i called Philips Media Manager. Now whilst Simple Center has improved the product and commercialised it I think it is still prone to being very resource hungry on many users XP PC's. Many new users to UPnP may find reading posts over at streamiumcafe useful to help understanding http://www.streamiumcafe.com/ubbthre...eads.php?Cat=0

Windows Media connect works and is free but its not the best of breed Media Server, For Music/Audio Twonky is very flexible as it can be installed on Win and Linux & Mac platforms and even network attached devices.

Tversity is my favourite for all AV because of the great ideas and developments but it has it little issues, one being it does not yet work with Media Streamer although the Tversity team are working on a fix that should be available in a few days.

ALL these Media servers need to be able to talk on the network so XP Firewall or others, Norton spy ware products etc, router settings can all cause issues with your media server being able to see your network etc. (You must open the program and ports through the PC firewall if advised to do so, but not normally through the router as that's to get outside your network generally.)

Now to the version of Media streamer, Yes the latest version is 1.0.8.2 and yes some users are finding that its impossible to download when wi-fi'ing onto a network, today I read a thread (In these forums) about issues with application manager and your ISP of all things so tried to update the package via telephone and Bluetooth and update to latest version just fine.

Having said that Tversity DOES NOT work with this version of Media Streamer any better than 1.0.8.1 wait for a fix from TVersity

Just downloaded and installed latest version of Philips Media Manager 3.3.12.004 in the interests of seeing how well it performs with Media Streamer and my Philips SL300i UPnP AV Media player. (Media Streamer 1.0.8.2 installed on Nokia 770)

With PMM the media art when available is transferred to the Nokia's Media Streamer interface i.e.

Just thought some of you may be interested, I think that you will need to be careful on the size of the thumbnails on the home PC as a couple of times the transfer of the image caused the Nokia 770 to lose its Wi-Fi connection temporarily.

You can find latest version of PMM for WINDOWS Here

I really don't know which other UPnP Media Servers have this option and even if its a pure UPnP Feature. (I.e. Nokia worked with SimpleCenter/PMM team to ensure Nokia 770 Media Streamer is maximised with their Media Server)

I have to say, after playing with Media Streamer for only 15 mins, this could be a killer app!

yes, as soon as it is capable of video.
Anybody here have a Slug and is using Ushare as upnp media server? I've been trying to connect with 770, but Slug is not seen in the server list. I checked with Intel's device sniffer and it recognizes ushare, as well as tversity and simple center as upnp and is able to browse folders

I sent another short email this week to the Team in Nokia working on Media Streamer asking them if the could include the latest releases of Media Streamer and its associated elements in Maemo Garage. You all, like myself will be pleased to know that they are already in the process of doing so

https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_...release_id=131

Notes:

The "mediastreamer_1.0-8.2_armel.deb" is the current latest release of Media streamer that can also be downloaded via the Nokia 770 application manager if you are able to update package lists and see it.

The "clinkc-av0_1.0-12_armel.deb" I have to be honest and say at this point in time I am a little confused as it explains that
This library cannot be installed manually via the Application Manager. You need to do it as root from Xterm. If you don't know how to do it, just install the Media Streamer from a repository and the library will be installed automatically
So if we install Media Streamer from Maemo Garage (When its included, not actually available at time of this post) does this package also get installed and then what does it additionally do exactly?

Obviously Time will Tell.

I have installed MediaStreamer, and it works very good with music from my TwonkyVision Mediaserver.
But i wasnt able to display pictures from the same server. Is it a problem of the player or the server?
The "Pictures" folders are diaplayed, but when i click a picture nothing happens.
