Is it really worth it?
I had a 02 XDA IIi that could be overclocked to 600mhz.. and the battery literally lasted about 20 minutes.

I already have to carry around two batteries for the N900!

What is the sense in a poll for a question of fact?

It is possible to overclock the N900, but you need to replace the kernel for that, and each individual N900 will have a maximum frequency.

And as a gamer, don't you know you're supposed to look around a bit, before you "plow ahead" (in your case, post)?

what will you use the speed increase for? are you going to draw some stuff using gnuplot? or execute some shell scripts? en/decrypt some stuff?

I'm just saying, because much of the multimedia stuff (audio/video decoding, 3d) isn't executed on the ARM core, but instead using C64x DSP and/or PowerVR chips - thus the increased CPU speed might not be as useful as you might think (for multimedia stuff, the CPU is probably slower by order or two, compared to specialized processors - so it wouldn't help to "reroute" calculations)

A thread titled "Overclock" was in the N900 forum. A new thread titled "Ist possible to Over-Clock the N900?" was created in the Off-Topic forum. I merged the new thread from Off-Topic into the old thread in N900 (expanding the title a smidge at the same time). Nothing was ever moved to Off-Topic, and the only piece remaining there now is a temporary redirect to this thread.
