Alpine theme is nice except for the light green color. If it was a light blue it would be better.

Yup, the higher compression rate of the rootfs will only show up after actually writing files to the filesystem. All other files are still using the old compression rate. So free space will gradually grow with time.

Then you'll love the alpine theme.
