To be honest, I am not sure how many people are out there with this need to play a quick game of classic doom.
Most people play on many WAD's and also mods.
The creator of CDoom really didn't make a bad move with that front end and there were entire threads dedicated to different WAD's and how they ran on the Symbian devices with said CDoom software.

Two more questions:
(1) Is it possible to have it truly fullscreen without black bars above and bellow? I think that would also benefit the aspect ratio a little bit, no?
I'm not going to make it the default, but it's already possible. You change the settings to fullscreen and the resolution to 800x480. It's done for you automatically by running this script i posted a couple pages back:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...4&postcount=40

(2) And how on earth do you get rid of the menu without having to -let's say- start a new game or save the game?
You can backspace (esc) all the way to the top level menu, but that is where it ends! Eek!
Well the lack of an escape key is the problem. I could remap the backspace key to do the same thing but then you couldn't backspace during text entry. That isn't really needed all that often so perhaps i'll do that.

Edit: How about the Doom Music?
Edit 2: I like the second and third icons that slender made (the icons were "DOOM" is written on)
I'll look into a wad chooser startup menu. The icon will never say "Doom" on it for the reason i gave before.

Prboom has broken music for some reason. By enabling the mixer (which would be necessary for music), sound is lost. I will take another look at it but i don't have a lot of hope for that.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?
MAME: an arcade in your pocket
Accelemymote: make your accelerometer more joy-ful

Great stuff!
...I assume that I have to run the script only once and it makes the necessary changes?

That's what it looks like in terms of running it fullscreen at 800x480. Ever since I ran /opt/prboom/prboom -fullscreen -width 800 -height 480 it always starts like that.

I would like to ask that is it hard to implement controls like this to prboom:

Accel-control left and right turning (only x-axis) (preferable user accessible sensitivity control)
Tap screen to shoot (or key from right side of keyb)
back & forward from keyboard (left side of keyb)
strafe button close to back and foward so that you can easily use it with accel.

Because right now all the FPS i have tried are bit too hard when played on this little keyboard. After 10 minutes I star to dream on full size keyboard and remember how easy it was with those and then i get frustrated and close game

Imo the way that i suggest the control might be close to the best way of implementing control in fps.

Sure, go to /opt/prboom/ and run these commands:

http://linux.die.net/man/6/prboom-game-server
http://linux.die.net/man/6/prboom

Getting your game traffic routed correctly is a totally different issue though

I'm glad to see people are enjoying PrBoom. To address some questions: i have looked into the music problem a couple times and have no idea where to start to fix that. I would really like to have it work but lack the background and desire to dig into linux multimedia issues. It's like getting involved in a land war in Asia.

The other thing i discovered is that PrBoom's joystick support is very poor. It was added as an afterthought and the implementation is not good and not flexible. I found one person's custom improvements online and would most likely incorporate those into it if more flexible controls are needed. Whether i will actually spend the time to do so i can't comment on at the moment.

Given both those problems i might look into porting a different version of the engine but again it's low on my list because prboom is about 95% as much as most people will want or need. Diminishing returns and all that.

I might surprise you all at some point but don't hold your breath.

Edit: I have updated accelemymote to use the proximity sensor as a button so it gives you more options when setting up your controls for PrBoom.
