They might have overclocked their N900. Mine's at default and it doesn't freeze. But there's a slight lag when I drag the interface around.

Maybe the maps that are purchased?

Maybe the complexity of the map in the current location or map view location?

If there's a background thread chewing CPU in some certain set of conditions then the crucial difference could be almost anything!

I have the full Europe map and pretty bad stuttering all the time, overclocked or not.

Mine says "in 900 yards, turn right" at 0.6 miles away from the turning. That seems reasonable to me. If you are just hearing "turn right" then that's surely a bug.

Are you using english? You could try american english perhaps?
I'll try American English next. It doesn't say 'turn right in 900 yards' on mine - just 'turn right' at exactly 0.6 miles away. I have reported it to sygic but not had a response as yet.

@spanner You got a point about the maps. I've also bought the European map. I had it overclocked before my reflash, still with stuttering as a result.

Ah, it looks like it might just be the size of the map then. I'm in the US and using USA maps only.

That would explain why I haven't had any serious lag problems (with MM9) as I'm using Nordics Map... Compared to US/EU it's quite small...

Your suggestion works! Fixtime is now fast again. Thx!

Actually I just tried removing all directories except gbr (britain) from Maps and yet the stuttering was as bad as ever.

Also had pauses of up to 30 seconds and one crash-to-desktop during a 10 minute drive.

My respect for Sygic started very high but is diminishing with every day that they don't acknowledge this problem!

They aren't acknowledging the problem? Have they been notified of it?

You can report a problem here.

Sometimes while I am using it, it will just shut off. If I re-open the application, it will pick up from where it left off, but the random crashing is irritating.
