@sygicsupport - excellent explanation, I know uisers may be sad, but I also work with commercial software and you've described the situation very well IMO.

I love maemo, but it & meego are not going to get the commercial application support - even more so now for exactly the reasons you describe.

I'm sticking with my device for a little longer, but will not be "upgrading" to the meego device. It's sad but it's time to change platform

To add - I've been in exactly that position, worked on supporting the platform, done testing, got things working but had to accept changes in business/industry mean taking the hit on long term support is just not viable.

I understand that they're not going to develop Meamo version any more, but why they stopped selling the old one if it works? There will be always some people who are prepared to buy it even if it's not up to date.

Talk about fair-weather freinds - Your product was PROMOTED by n900 users, it's less than eighteen months old at retail and you crap on all your supporters.

I won't buy another Sygic product whichever platform I decide to go to when my n900 expires - although I have no intention of that happening for at least a couple of years.
I hate to break it to you, but it's not their fault--it's Nokia's for sunsetting Maemo and then pulling out of the MeeGo development. I can hardly blame them for not wanting to spend another cent on a dying platform and then on a platform with no manufacturer's dedication of support. It doesn't take a lot of imagination to realize that it probably costs them money to write, support and maintain the software and servers that provide the support. I believe your angst is very terribly misplaced.

I would expect the answer to be no. If Maps can do turn by turn with voice guidance out of the box on the N9, and it seems like it will, then it makes no economic sense to release for the platform given it (the N9) probably wont see much mass appeal once it finally goes on sale.

Although Sygic has a fairly decent UI for what it does, depending upon where you live the available maps can be a bit of a let down. I'd pay for it - but only if there was some way I could use OSM, Nokia, or Garmin maps on it instead.

Hi all, I've downloaded Italy Aura map with Nitdroid and that question came in my mind "Can we use Aura maps in Sygic Mobile Maps 10?"...

I've looked at the directory structure and the files that uses respectively Aura and Sygic 10...and I've found very very little differences...also by opening with an HEX viewer the files .nhs and .pak are very similar...
Here is what I've found:
Sygic Mobile Maps 10
ita\
ita.nhs
ita.pak
TeleAtlas2010.90.mlm
wcl\
wcl.pak

Sygic Aura
ita.ta.2013.01\
ita.2dc
ita.2dt
ita.cam
ita.db1
ita.dbp
ita.hmp
ita.lma
ita.neo
ita.ne1
ita.ne2
ita.ne3
ita.ne4
ita.nhs
ita.pak
wcl\
wcl.lma
wcl.pak
world2.wtn
world3.wtn

We can see a similar structure..but now comes the magic...

PAK file
By opening the two pak files (Mobile Maps 10 pak and Sygic Aura pak) I've noticed that they have the same Header "2KAP" and at the end the same strings </body> and </cgml> so I can suppose that apart from the 3D view of streets and buildings they didn't make any Big changes in file format..

NHS file
Here I've found only a difference, in Mobile Maps 10 Nhs file the header is 1PAM while in the Sygic Aura is 2PAM

WCL file inside wcl folder has the same header

And the magic continue..
By opening TeleAtlas2010.90.mlm file I've noticed that there is this text:

[PRODUCT:SMM10 Europe]

name=SMM10 Europe

tts=no

sdk=no

truckAttr=no

premiumPOI=no

exPostals=yes

speedcam=SCDB:WORLD:2012.03

maps=TA:WORLD:2012.03

That is similar to the format of the elements founded in the file "content.info" (in my example I've looked at Italy element):

[PRODUCT:Sygic Aura 2 Italy]
name=Sygic Aura 2 Italy
tts=yes
sdk=no
truckAttr=no
premiumPOI=yes
exPostals=no
3dContent=yes
cityguides=yes
naviType=pedestrian,car
speedcam=SCDB:ITALY:2020.01
maps=TA:ITALY:2013.01

I hope that this study can bring to maps updates also for us..my dream is to let Sygic Mobile Maps to "think" that is loading a native map, not an Aura map

Definitely NO!
Sygic are the most unprofessional people I've ever known so don't expect anything from them until you'll buy an iP* device or Android phone.
This obviously until those devices will be supported, otherwise you will result in your money dropped in the trash as per your Maemo/Meego version
