You might want to open your windows and smell the silicone. Most of the big players have. Thats why all the big fuss with the cloud is about, thats why Google are trying to push Chrome OS, thats why Microsoft "bought" Nokia, thats why everyone is churning out tablets like mad, trying to catch the last train out of desktopville.
Tablet/Mobile is going to replace the Desktop.
The only remnants from the Desktop era might some of the perhiperals: Monitors, Mice, Keyboards etc.
You will dishout your quadcore/hdmi/usb pocketable device, connect it to the said perhiperals and voila, instant Desktop.

I was arounf at that time hehe and I know all about it, but I didn't say anything about that, all I said was that their software isn't as bad as how people make it seem like on the internet, that's all.

Unlike apple, they won't need to lie about inventing stuff, just show those incredible 3d maps, the social integration that is so beyond anything else, the gyro features of mango, maemo-esque multitasking and the live tiles and this can easily be a winner.

Have the Windows fanboys dropped into this forum? :-)
WP7 is as fresh as a 80year old woman. :-)
I just say "missing copy paste".
Social Integration was in Maemo quite some time before WP7.
Multitasking does only have the name but it is not multitasking as you can read here:
"It appears fast task switching does not mean multi-tasking, but rather rapid suspend and restore, and that real multi-tasking will be exclusive to certain tasks such as the background music task, much like on the iPhone."

And here about Mango:

I also find it funny how people blame Microsoft for everything wrong with their windows installs.
The large majority of the time, it isnt Microsofts fault. Its the third party that made the drivers that are erroring, its the third party that made the programs that didnt do it right.

@ richwhite: MS is trying to 'buy' their way into the mobile space(and eventually mobile computing). It is good for them, it is their money. Whether it will work due to tech merit or by "BS", that will be difficult to say. Personally, I don't see them winning on Tech merit with their WP7.
WP7 is a 'few' months old, but MS has been doing this(as in pushing into the mobile space) for years and it should have been well polished after all these years.
Even some of the console ports to PC.
But still, I would like to see you playing Battlefield 3 on a tablet, not only would it be stupid- but it would be stupid.
