Don't you see the picture? They want to create bullet proof OS without any tweaking options. Cross-platfom Qt makes it even "easy" . Currently you cannot leverage Qt-apps within S40 ecosystem and it's BAD because symbian is being dropped => There is clear need for revamped low-mid category OS.

It's also much, much, bigger win for Qt ecosystem than Meego high-end smartphones ever..

I wasn't talking about Qt in S40. I was talking about S40 with highend hardware.

Qt for S40 is good thing. But S40 with high end hardware and spending resources for doing something that already exists is waste of money and resources.

What's today highend it's tomorrow lowend. I put 1ghz as example. Sure they try to push Qt to its limits ie. to use as low end hw as possible.

Will see in future

We'll probably see in october what this is all about. The good ehing is that Qt lives on doing something useful (as opposed to merely being the favorite but utterly useless geek toy) *hiding and running*

I didn't really understand all of your blog post. Nokia ruled the smartphone world up until only a few months ago when Android steamed ahead of them. From 2003-2004 (and much earlier depending how you count) and until 2008-2009 Nokia was IT. Everything else was just poor quality toys. You could still argue that all Android devices are poor quality toys, but that's another matter.

Other than that I agree, S40 has great potential. But they have to hurry, Bada is steaming ahead.
