making the dbus calls when maemoscrobbler is not installed doesn't produce any ill-effect. unless you're going to bother with a preferences/configuration dialog, i wouldn't bother making it disabled by default.

and of course it shouldn't be in the dependencies.

Then it never returns to prompt, even tough the CPU occupation returns to mostly zero level.
Ok, set red pill, found python-pygame and installed and now is working fine!

My 770 is still on the way...

Just wondering if this version of ukmp supports Chinese characters?

Thanks.
Alex.

Why does it use 100% cpu whe idle and only 10% when playing? Can that be optimised?

Wow. I have to look into that. Sounds really really odd. I lost my task bar cpu meter in the update and didn't notice that. If that is the case, I'll fix it asap. In the meanwhile, I think that's good to know for everyone. Probably something to do with the gstreamer access. Could be related to the firmware update as well.

Nope. It doesn't support chinese characters, as the pygame rendering engine doesn't seem to support them. If I'm wrong about that one, please let me know. i would gladly support chinese characters as well.

Pretty much nothing works for me in this player. Scrolling is erratic at best, hitting buttons produces random results, video playback doesn't work at all...

And why is there no exit button? Even the [x] is normally not accessible, as the program starts in fullscreen mode.

It really is a shame, as I'm in the market for a decent replacement for kilikali and mplayer-frontend. But the replacement should at least work...

I finally got it installed after some problems installing python. It functions great! The scroll is smooth and I am surprised that it even found cover art for some obscure mp3 songs I had. I really like the simple clean interface, no arrows or check mark icons to click to get what you want. Just click the album art. It's wonderful. I do have some hopes for the next version:

- album titles in the main menu are too close to the album below it. It gives you the impression that the title above and the album below correspond. It could obviously be fixed my adjusting the blank spacing in the items.

- a scrub bar of some sort , maybe under the cover art, could be utilized. Honestly, there doesn't need to be two cover art images on the play screen. More function and more info about the track being played would be much nicer.

- it would be cool if I could find out what the "unknown" songs were so I can remove them from my card, so they wouldn't show up in the main list.

- is there a way for it to ignore certain directories? I use maemo mapper and it builds a considerable cache directory that takes **forever** to scan. Canola, UKMP, and anything else that scans cards tend to choke on this directory.

- it would look cooler when you choose a video it plays in the same space as the menu complete with info and scrub bar, then tap once to view full screen. I love mplayer, but hate it's clunky and awkward interface.

- since an album is a group of songs essentially in one meta directory brought together by a database, but my movies and videos aren't. Could there be a way for the user to organize the video section in say, genres? Have a top directory of genres, then each level down has the videos. I have tons of smaller music videos, karaoki vids, movies, etc organized on the card but in UKMP it's all a mismash of blank cd looking icons.

- if I am playing a video, how do I get back to the UKMP interface without quitting the app?

- How do I quit the app?

this is by far my fave music player.

I'm having a weird problem with it where the album covers and songs don't match up.

I'll choose one album cover, play the song, and a completely different song starts playing.

Any idea what's wrong?

I love the way the interface looks, but I can't use it like this.

I didn't initially notice the click problems when I launched 1.5. I have been correcting it though and I'll try to launch a fixed version of 1.5 today. Sorry for everybody for a bug infested release.
