Pokemon Go not working on Sailfish has turned into a feature very quick!
We are saved from being part of the zombie apocalypse.

Seems if you wipe existing Android app data a lot of things work, but not camera and possibly video acceleration is broken and some issues to solve.
I personally do think It would be better if we could get SFOS + Dalvik fully supported on Fairphone II. It would probably be easier task?

I mean Jolla1 is dated. Yes I know many still has Jolla I as mainphone, including myself, but mostly cause there is no SFOS alternatives.

But if SFOS was fully supported on Fairphone II some more would probably switch to never device.

Btw. Ontopic what is this all hype around pokemon latelly? Just today swedish news radio talked about this "new thing"

That does not depend on Jolla only, but also at Fairphone willingness to sign the contract. As to the hype... yeah, thought we were past the 'killer app' era, most thought so (we had one every month or two, been a year since, how many ppl still play flappy bird or whatever was its name), sadly the pattern repeats, next killer app and again is not supported by any linux phone (officially released, internal builds of AD for fairphone/turing do not count)

There is a modified version of Pokemon GO that supports Android 4.0+ here that apparently at least sort of works on Jolla. I haven't tried it myself.

I just tried the modified version I linked in my post above. It indeed works as stated by user _kassiopeia_ - the game seems to work fine except the GPS always fails to be detected, which unfortunately makes it unplayable. The GPS does seem to become active, but the app isn't seeing it.

GPS fails to be detected also with Jolla C. One could maybe get it running with Google Services installed..

I've seen it suggested that with Google Play Services installed, the GPS may work.

The modded version works indeed with Google Spy Services installed.
Maybe it will also work without gapps since I had to restart my Jolla1 and the App once to make the GPS work.

I also increased my SWAP volume since the game is using up to 40% RAM and is a preferred target of the OOM Killer (https://together.jolla.com/question/...#post-id-96653 -> adjusted value to 20).

Happy gaming

Edit:
I also made a trainer account and didn't sign in with the Google mail, so maybe this is also needed to work properly.
