a reflashing can't alter the power that N900 can provide. It always should be 5V@200mA - only charging battery may improve behaviour in some niche cases.
Plugging in the peripheral after starting VBUS boost sometimes helps.
Honestly, I doubt 200mA ever can be enough to start up any but the smallest HDD, I suggest using a Y-cable and USB PSU, or a selfpowered hub for this

Thanks but i tried the same 2.5 HDD and the same USB Sticks with the exact same cables as before with no luck..Could it be Power Kernel's Voltage settings? Though I haven't change anything but the max. freq.

I also tried to connect after startung th VBUS but it keep saying "port 1 not enabled, trying reset again.... ... port 1 not reset yet, waiting 200ms" and it gives "port_wait_reset:err = -16"

Is there anything else i can try?

sorry but do I understand it right you OCd your device and now complain h-e-n doesn't work? Maybe even previously with a sane cpu clock and now massively OC'd?
Of course the chip internal interface from cpu to musb-core is susceptible to voltage and clock changes.

If you had a HDD working before, you were lucky.

I work for an electronics company, and we deliver 500mA and still have problems with most usb drives. (its all up to power)
I have similar issues, sometimes I have to restart the n900 and then it works better.
also I noticed using a powered hub improves stability. I guess thats because the hub handles device speeds, or whatever.

@joerg_rw: regarding my other problem I never stated its anyones fault, just asked for support.

Err, yes. So what? What did I say? How's c&p of apt-cache results making you talk about fault? Or was it my next post that said "probably only headers needed"?

I didn't complain about anything, I was just saying that with the same settings as before (same max freq etc) flashing, everything worked pretty good!

And let's assume that with the USB HDD I was lucky..what about the USB sticks? They should be working..at least not giving me that "port" error..

Sorry maybe I offended you. Didnt mean that.

One quick question: did the power kernel get installed with the h-e-n or did I do that and just cant remember that I did it?

I am using PowerKernel v46 multibooted with Nitdroid Ginderbread and the omap pr1.3 Kernel i installed the h-e-n software and bought the female to female converter...i am trying to connect a transcend 4gb flash drive with fat32 file system.
I run the device at high speed. nothing happens. some times when i open file manager it says no filesystem found(this is a rarity... most of the times nothing happens at all).
could someone suggest what might be going wrong?... any help will be appreciated...

EDIT: i also tried different speeds... nothing happens
