The 800 kbit was chosen to accomodate 3g streaming - 1024 is the way to go for watching it on the device if you aren't bandwidth lmited, since anything above that is overkill imo. But for TV or a projector I reckon more is needed. Did you experiment with values below and above 2048 as well?

It doesn't work

It's still loading after 5minutes, no timeout. I have to kill processes to reload knots2 server.

Been testing the 800kbit video setting today, and it seems far less stable than 1024. I get bad stuttering at certain places resulting in loss of audio/video sync from that point onwards. Odd.

I'll see if I can find a reasonable setting between those two rates that runs as perfectly as 1024,

Btw ukki, the bug where the client won't leave fullscreen mode has returned a few times. (the menus get inaccessible so I have to end the task the hard way)

Okay, for some reason it seems that certain audio/video bitrate combinations seem to make sync drift quite a bit, but 896 video and 128 audio seems to be a good choice.

So this is my best bet for a low bandwidth profile for the n900, and then I hope therock can contribute with a high bandwidth wifi profile that looks and sounds smashing on a big screen

I can see the media folders fine on my N810 but when selecting any to play (video or audio) I get "Stream failed to start".

It used to work, I re-flashed and re-installed all apps and now, for some reason, this is failing for me.

Do they play in browser? If so, make sure you have the n8x0 profile selected on client.

I have installed both server and client. The videos that I have scanned in from my folder, work in the browser and I can see them on the N900 (the thumbnails under video collection button), but everytime I select one I get to the video play screen on the device but I cannot see or hear the video, only the scan time bar and the "stop/repeat/favourites" buttons at the bottom of the screen are there.

After a while (10-30 secs) the video window changes back to the clip overview page. Any ideas? Does the N900 need more packages than just the client to play the videos? Thanks in advance.

This symptom is usually caused by a firewall, make sure you open ports 19780-19790 to your local network, not just localhost. Many virus scanners act as firewalls too.
