hallo,

I have no sound on my n900 while streaming with knots 2 under windows 7.
I am connected and the player starts, but no sound gets out of my n900.

I use standard port 1978
also opened ports 19780-19790 for vlc on my firewall in local network.

Anyone can help?
thank you ""

Maybe I have to add them in chunks or you can find a way to improve that.
Thanks anyway!
Can you enable debug and run it in terminal and see if it stops at some file? There is a timeout that should kill the process if it freezes, but maybe it won't die. There's no hard limit, I have around 10k items scanned on my sheevaplug.

But if all your media is under one folder, maybe some sorting would be in order You really should add as many paths as possible, because scanning huge amounts of files each time you add few is time consuming. Knots has to go through all and check if they still exist etc, so it's not as slow as on the first time but still takes time.

It's sad that I have to treat you Windows users as second-class citizens, but it's not my os of choice and I have no partner in crime from that side of the fence.

But you do get picture? Make sure master volume isn't off, check that phone profile isn't silent (not sure it makes a difference) and try tapping key right/down to change mplayer volume during playback if you are using the client from extras repository. Try also switcing transcoding profile to something like Browser.

If you installed the latest server from today, you should install the latest client using the N900 browser from here. That should give you way smoother playback and better battery life.

thanks,

I just updated both, player and server.
Album-Picture I get. Other Picture I havn't tested, yet
But there is still no sound.

" try tapping key right/down to change mplayer volume during playback"

How can I do that?
I don't understand tapping key right/down.
How can i change Knots 2 volume?

N900 volume is almost 100 percent and no silent-profil activated.

edit: (pictures and my fotos are showning up in galery, but no fullscreen when klicking on play fotos.)

If you updated the server too, click on the reset profiles button to reload the new transcoding profiles. Try other transcoding profiles from the client like n8x0 and 3G. Do you get sound if you try to play them with Firefox using Browser profile?

only transcoding profile "Local playback" brings sound out of my PC speakers. Same with Browser no sound except "Local playback" profile...

That sure sounds odd, 'Browser' profile should have sound like 'Local playback' on your pc. You do have latest VLC? Your pc sound settings shouldn't be able to disable sound from the n900 client so reboot your N900 and try again. I'm pretty much out of ideas

tested newest vlc, also an older version.

I try it for two days, and I really don't know what is going on.

tried it under winxp and works great!

I think there is a Problem with Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and streaming. I don't know where is the problem exactly.
Settings in program control and firewall are all correct, I think. I don't know witch part of Kaspersky blocks anything.

Someone experience with Kaspersky and Knots and knows about problem with them?

thanks "

Oh dear, if it's Kaspersky blocking, you should not get video either. If that's the case, switch it to something sane like ms security essentials or avast I'm sure Kaspersky can be made to work too.
