Can you give a little more instructions on changing the "screen Name" in order to change the call back number.

I have a suggestion on how to make it work possibly better but would require the user to set it up on the google voice site before hand. Can the one ring see what you named your phone as? For instance, the gizmo account linked to my nokia is actually named n810. If theonering can "read" the names of the phones this should be a simple way to determine which to call back.

"Account Settings" -> "Edit" (when the GV account is selected) -> "Next" -> "Nickname" (Enter your GV callback here)

You can confirm what information I have when I guess what number to use by going to the "Debug Prompt". To do this go to "New Chat" -> "Chat" (in the menu) -> "Chat with..." -> enter your account number.

This will start a "chat" but instead of sending texts, it is a debug prompt. You can type "help" to get a list of commands. "help COMMAND" to get more info. The command you would be interested in is "get_callback_numbers".

In doing this I confirmed I do have the name associated with the number. Currently my algorithm guesses based on if the number has an area code of "747" or "Gizmo" is in the name.

Using the device model might not work out too well. I have an n900 and an n810. What model should it look for (note my code is the same between the two platforms). What about someone who has an n800 and n810?

This is a general call out. DIalcentral has been experiencing issues with using GIzmo for a while. I implemented an idea I had to fix it in The One Ring. Could someone who has seen Gizmo not work in Dialcentral confirm it works in The One Ring?

If so then I can go fix the bug in Dialcentral and make people with Maemo 4.1 happy.
Just tried with my Gizmo account and still no go. Did work with my cell number though.

When I select New IM, apparently the only contacts that come up for me are IM contacts, these are just googletalk and MSN contacts.

If I receive an SMS from GV I am able to reply to the SMS easily through GV.

I am unable however to access phone contacts, and therefore unable to initiate SMSes through GV. The only way I can initiate an SMS is to
>select the Conversations main drop down menu,
>select "Send IM to"
>select the "USE account" Google voice option
> write in the phone number by hand.

Is this normal or am I having an issue?

Thanks

**EDIT** also, if I receive an SMS through my phone, is there a way to reply to the SMS through the GV account? Maybe this is just a feature that has yet to be implemented.

While this is true, the idea is still valid. It appears that you have already have the solution in the code, you just didnt tell us I would put in your instructions in the first page to Name the account Gizmo, else it will look for a 747 number. That way if a situation such as myself happens again, its easily fixed.

I simply changed the names of my phone types, gizmo (n810) and Home Giz. (Home ATA) Now my nokia rings

Any advise on the rtcom?

Weird. The priority of the list is:
  • 747 area code number
  • "gizmo" in the phone name
  • "computer" in the phone name
  • "sip" in the phone name
  • Anything else

I think epage is working on GV contact integration.

As a workaround, when you edit a contact, there is a new field you can add, "Google Voice". Enter/copy a number into this field. The contact will show up for IM and GV calls.

I assume you are referring to Maemo 5? If so I recommend looking over again the first post, especially where it says "Known Issues"

It might be confusing but when I mean "Support for GV/System Contacts" I mean that it isn't working.

EDIT: I thought I'd include the bug numbers

maybe it reads them in ABC order, changing gizmo to home giz and N810 to gizmo would have changed the order of numbers read.
What do you mean?
I am unable to send txt via chat because I have the rtcom-beta-os2008 2.4-1. How do I get on the right version, or should I sit tight and wait for a fix

Sorry I missed that. Maybe the issue is I need to update to 2.4-1 . I've been hesitant about it but since my n810 is now just used for software testing, I guess I might as well.
