I am tempted by the blinky lights and geekery involved in getting a HAVA box and watching TV remotely via my N800; however, I'm having trouble justifying the purchase to myself, never mind my wife. So, how and where are others using this or planning to use it?

(I'll also say it'd be easier to justify if the company offered a model with an ATSC tuner, rather than NTSC.)

hava/slingbox would be awesome if you are traveling. you could have access to your tv/dvr anwhere.

waited for something for the Sony PSP but they locked their market w/ their location free player which is crap.

for some reason, slingbox doesn;t want to support the Sony PSP or Linux for that matter.

I'm planning on setting it up at my parent's house (with full cable) so I can avoid having to pay for anything besides ultra-basic-basic cable.

any chance this would work with an N770? it would breathe new life into that platform.

I cannot speak for Monsoon Multimedia but when this question was asked on the HAVA forum, the answer was "I am afraid HAVA Player is not going to work with N770".

Maybe someone will develop a hack to make it work for you.

I believe the main factor is sheer processing speed that is required to decompress the video. OS2008 firmware (N8x0) clocks the CPU to 400 MHz from OS2007's 330Mhz.

Alas the 770 (not an N series remember) has quite a different architecture.

I got it working on my local network. for a beta, it was surprising good. picture and sound is pretty good and in sync with adequate frame rate.

now if can get this working remotely over the internet, that will be awesome.

update! i got it working over the internet!

quality and response time is surprisingly good.

this is a KILLER APP IMO. while HAVA's reputation is kind of mixed, the combo of a Hava box and a Nokia N800 gives you your TV/Media anywhere.

Can you explain what you mean by that please?
