Are you sure about it? Android being slow is the complaint I've heard even from hi-end owners.

I haven't coded anything in Java for a very long time, but back when it was my job, the main issue affecting "speed" was the memory usage and GC, not the CPU.

Not in Maemo's side of the family...
I made a more accurate map of what the Tizen codebase looks like
at least from a macro level

4,294,967,295 happens to be also max size of unsigned long int, press those 'thanks' buttons more gently guys.
On a side note, funny whoever designed this part expected this as a realistic number to ever have, oh well, it happened.

edit: long int, 65535 for standard.

The Tizen map is probably correct, but the MeeGo map? MeeGo for netbooks was Moblin renamed, and hardly any real work was done except updating the kernel a few times.

MeeGo for devices was what exactly? Did Nokia ever work on that one at all except to hack something together during a short month?

MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan is Maemo.

I said macro level for a reason. Some individual code bases might be different however this is how the projects evolved from a project perspective no code perspective.

Force google to improve android.
Speed up the transition from flash to html5.
More customable for vendors.
Great performance when it comes to html5.
Linux in pocket.
Mobile vendors are more free from Google.
Less patenttrolling.

But then again, we still don't know enough about products, releases and vendors yet. But don't shut it down until you see the first launch, please.
People who thinks HTML5 is the only way, and also thinks that it will be "fully open" are really dreamers. Just look at the codecs mess and so on.

Also HTML5 will be as fragmented as web is today with different frameworks etc..

You need no codecs for HTML5. You need codecs for the media. Two different things. One is embedded, one is not.

It's about as far from being called a standard as you can get at this very moment.
