me ....wish I could find a decent splitter where I won't get a ton of noise.
so for the time being for me it is using any of these 3:
and it's onboard mic
to out with this:
to either a pair of these:
or out to this:
and then back to headphones.
or straight to this:
or through the m780 then to the marshall...
or to a rp155 multi effects box:
then to headphones or to one of my marshalls or to my m780 then to my headphones or the marshall...
Options are heaven
Hell is none...
We need more real time effects processor programs ...rakkarack ...preferrably....
(lotta stock fotos there...I ain't in the mood to spend time taking pictures this morning...)

sorry for lack of input lately. I'd like to be able to remove the GTK1 requirement at some stage for N900 and potentially to aid some one in porting to Harmattan. Be it replacing GTK1 with Qt4 or GTK2.
Unfortunately with everything else I don't have time available at the moment. Having trouble concentrating lately so Hildon work is taking a lot longer than it should.

this kind of interface would be handy...

with what we have...
utilizing a few usb sound cards on the n8x0 is not much of an option since it won't recog. it...
of course I'm most very likely missing something...
if getting the headphone port on the n900 to in and out...
(yet to find a good female mic/ headphone to male 4post adapter that will work ...yet again perhaps I'm doing something wrong...or omitting something...) properly were to work ...

it is using a chunk of silicone a nokia bluetooth earpiece mic/ for phone and funneling it through gtkgep ( possibly) and then out through headphone port...
or
out through bluetooth to speakers or a pc..
or
in... via onboard mic..(use it now..but not as good as virtually any other potentially workable method)
and then out through bluetooth to pc / speakers / headpphones..
or just out to headphones
(Thinking about it...I must be not configuring something properly...)

at least not a normal conventional off the shelf headphone port male to mic in / audio out female

the mic and ground on the n900 port are REVERSED ...
meaning...
you get wicked noise coming through using anything other than an officially made-for-device-product from nokia...
unless some jury rigging hackery is somehow done by a unicorn ...no wait....
an omnicorn...
in a ball gown ...
with the help of a talking weevil
and a tap dancing elk...
wearing custom-made spats...
from what I fathom...
utilizing mic input via headphone port...aint gonna happen.
which makes me wonder...

the mic and ground on the n900 port are REVERSED ...
Possible solutions:
- Use an OMTP equipment.
- Buy an OMTP to CTIA adapter.
- DIY.
