I did the update but canola doesn't start. When trying in xterm i get this:

mc = MainController(ee, options.theme)

File "plugins/canola-core/maemo/system.py", line 88, in __init__

I have the n800 with os2008, anyone having the same problem?

Hi Giole,

It seems so.. the old dependencies (possibility caused by repositories conflicts etc)
So you can look back in the thread that's a possible way to solving it as showed by some users.

Ok, I tried what handful said to do (the full reinstall thing), and now it works perfectly! Thanks for the great app and the speedy responses!

Hi absolofdoom :

I'm happy because this shows that at least the "scenario" is right : if you have one small dependency wrong.. for any reason.. it will be possible to fix with the tips (although we admit they are hard for novice users)

thanks!

I have been getting the same error each time I try to install Canola2
"Unable to install. Software comtains updates to packages from a different source and is likely to harm the system. Contact the author."

This happens even after restart.
I also removed downloadmanager0-server and libdownloadmanager0 as per a previous thread suggestion. still no luck. I get the same error message.
below is the log from application manager

hildon-application-manager 2.0.1
apt-worker: domain change: python2.5-efl-utils (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: lightmediascanner0-playlists (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: hildon-imf-ecore (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: lightmediascanner0-video-dummy (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: atabake (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: python2.5-efl-core (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: lightmediascanner0-jpeg (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: python2.5-terra (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: liblightmediascanner0 (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: canolad (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: lightmediascanner0-plugins (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: lightmediascanner0-id3lib (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: efl-core (nokia-system -> unsigned)
apt-worker: domain change: libedje0 (nokia-system -> unsigned)

seems to be some python issue...

Aha, I followed your instructions (I left off the --force-yes and -y because I want to be able to say yes or no myself) and it worked!

It also noted that i needed to upgrade python2.5-efl-utils, and this is the only way it detected that it needed to be done so that's probably the issue I was having.

Thanks, off to play now

Nilchak : you have the same problem as the other : dependencies issues, that the application manager can't solve.. thus you need to go manual. there's more info on the threads =)

the manual method indeed did it smotthly on my N810 now.

Thanks a ton and kudos again for this great app and the improvements are great (already installed on Wife's N800).

I'm also happy, but now the dreadful question:

What made this happen ? can you guys tell me :

1) did you install using the official repo (the first beta) or that community repository?
2) What kind of repositories did you had when trying to install ?
3) Did you tested any of Gustavo's Evas demo (that iphone keyboard, the kinetic list demo) ?

We need to figure out a way of not letting this happen ; /
