Hmm... sounds familiar, I probably did that too. But map doesn't depend on a specific version (not directly at least), and I don't even see 1.0-25 packaged in the repositories.

Hey folks, the package I posted prevents system upgrades. Please install the original 1.0-25 from the same place if you installed my version:

I'm REALLY sorry about that.
If anyone wants the details: osso-software-version depends on osso-gpsd 1.0-25. I did not think about this, and made my version 1.0-25-jku0 (this is normally good practice as otherwise you can't tell which version you have). This is not a problem while installing, but apt starts to complain when you try to upgrade.
Again, sorry for the trouble. I'll post a new thread to make sure everyone notices.

Ok... but will that "un-FIX" the gps.. ?
Oh.. and BTW.. THANKS SOO MUCH for gps-clockd...
I could never figure out why they didn't incude the ability to sync the clock to the gps in the first place..
I did install version 1.0-25-jku0 and it fixed my gps just like others say..
first lock took 11min..
after that lock times when restarting after only a few minutes of being off are less than 20 seconds..
a cold fix after being turned off for over 12 hours only took 3min.
WAY better than the 810 ever did before..
Oh.. and before it would show one or two sat's while trying to get a fix.. now it shows at least 12 right at the start.

I had the same experience about the improvements as you did and I can't explain it, but I really don't see how the patch could have helped it.
Now, you are of course free to do as you like, but I'd really wish you'd install the original 1.0-25 -- otherwise you can't update software on your tablet. I'd love to offer a version that didn't break like this and that was identifiable from the original, but Nokia has not made that possible.

but from what I read.. it may be that the package that you "patched" may be different source code than what was actually installed on the tablets.. even though the version numbers match..
that being the case.. if you compile a "version" from the source code that you used for the patch.. that gpsd driver should work .. just without the leapyear patch..
really.. this is OBVIOUS to anyone that for one reason or the other your gpsd drive build is MUCH better than the one that Nokia installed on the 810s.... call it a bug.. or not.. this driver works better... they should imediately relase an updated GPSD and fix everyones 810!!!!
again... thanks for gps-clockd... another obvious feature that they should include in the OS
for now I'm going to leave your patched version on there for a while..

So, was it placebo effect? Are people who switched back to the original GPSD noticing slower fixes now?
I am still not 100% convinced the leap bug has no effect on the hardware. If N810 uses last location to initialize GPS, that location needs to be stored somewhere. The only place I know which stores a location is /var/lib/gps/gps_last_saved_report. This file is generated by gpsd and stores the incorrect timestamp.

to be honest, I have noticed a marked improvement in GPS fix times. (less than 3 minutes to first fix, lessthan 1 minute if I've had a fix in the last hour or so...)
Perhaps it's in my head. But I've seen first fix times of over 10 minutes previously. Ill be psyched if tghis was a software problem...

No longer the case.
So I've checked the version... I'm at the right version. It doesn't lock in 5 minutes or so usually. So allow me to ask... is there something I've done wrong?
To recap, I've downloaded Jussik's fix while in Red Pill mode. Installed it, reboot. Fixed that first time... in like 2 minutes. Went outside, didn't cover the upper left corner where the GPS antennae is located.
Just tried it again, today... no less than 3 meters from my last "fix" - btw, talking about meters/kilometers, no matter what my GPS won't show me feet and miles per hour once fixed, and it's set to Imperial not Metric within the Map app, still no go on fixing that - and it's not really picking up anything. This is in plain view of the sky, no trees, no clouds.
