Regarding automatic todo additions at midnight...

Cool. I saw it work for me last night too.

Tonight I'm leaving the dirty dishes when I go to sleep, just to see how complete that program is.

I don't think it matters that it stays open. It means when you look at your NIT in the morning, it's harder to escape (or forget) your to-do's. And it ain't that hard to close it.
Haha... give Gene that bug report if your dishes aren't done.

Yeah, it's very minor... who knows, it may grow on me too.

...and, I don't have a problem with the concept, or with the app remaining open, for the reason you state above. however, I do take issue with the program assuming that midnight is the optimal (and non-configurable) time to do this. I'm often still awake (and still using my NIT!!) at midnight. The calendar will pop up right in the middle of whatever I'm doing at the time. If it has to do this to keep the to-do list synchronized, that's fine... but let me decide what time each day it should do it.

Just tried the To-Do and Calendar apps in my N800. I like them very, very much: much cleaner visually and easier to use. Quite superior to GPE Calendar and Todo. However there is one small snag and I hate myself for saying this: It doesn't work with GPE summary, which is basically the single most important component of the PIM apps I currently have in my Tablet. Unfortunately I am no developer, otherwise I would either modify GPE Summary to use this new apps or create an equivalent for these great apps.

If someone knows if this is possible, or if you can somehow "trick" GPE Summary into using Gene Cash's apps instead of GPE, please let me know.

Thanks for these 2 great additions to the PIM alternatives for the N800

I agree... something like GPE summary would be nice. My thinking would be that modifying something like the HomeIP python apps would be the easiest, and they do transparent backgrounds too.

Thanks for porting! I tested To-Do app alone, and it seems 'Category' menu lacks "All" entry to show up all items from all categories together, to have a quick summary of all your to-do's.

Are you using non-English locale settings on your tablet? Please do "View Log" in the menu and see if there are any error-type messages after the last "Startup" message. godd has reported these symptoms as a non-English locale problem.

My regional settings are set to Español (América Latina) but in spite of having language set to English (USA), Calendar shows days and months in Spanish.

The error after trying to set a week event is:

raise ValueError, 'Expected weekday abbrevation, got: %s' % self
ValueError: Expected weekday abbrevation, got: MA
MA is the abbreviation of MARTES, what means TUESDAY in Spanish.

By the way, thanks for porting this app and helping us.
