Is scrolling working in the 2006 version of VNC? The wiki page describes it as working like the 2005 version, holding the directional pad, but I haven't been able to get it to work.

I understand it is has only recently converted for 2006 (thanks for that), but wondered if I'm missing something.

I had the same problem - besides a few other. Then I built my own binary, unfortunately I did not build a package yet.
If you want to give it a shot, the binary is attached. Just copy it onto the device with the regular vncviewer package installed and either start it from where you copied it to or move it to /usr/bin and start it from the Extras menu.

Excellent, that works! Thank you very much!

I have a PC under the TV( to use as a PVR) so it has no monitor. This gives me a quick and non-blurry way to access it (the tv output is not good for text, even in 800x600).

Thank you also.

I have one issue though.
I leave my VNC running on my 770 permently, connected to my server.
When the 770 goes into deep sleep, maybe after an hour or so, when I wake it up it has lost the connection.

I then have to take it out of full screen, turn on the tool bar, reconnect and reverse.
I dont suppose this is something that might be / could be / please looked at for the next release?

Sorry to keep everyone waiting for an update to VNC viewer, but I seem to have been hit with "developer's curse" where I've become too busy to have any free time to work on the project for some time now. If anyone would like to take up where I left off, please feel free to do so.

My understanding is that this alternative version of the VNC Viewer program, provides improved usability/functionality over the original developed by AaronL which is currently available via this Thread

So we install the 1st the Version provided by AaronL, then include this new package and then the improvements are what exactly?

Is there a clear breakdown anywhere which combines information to understand what the latest version provides with regard to functionality and parameters that could be adjusted under the hood. (I have been searching through threads etc?)

Aaron's version was built for OS edition IT 2005, it doesn't install under IT 2006. Then =DC= rebuilt an IT 2006 package of Aaron's version. This variant did not run satisfyingly for me (e.g. scrolling with hardware keys did not work).

Then I compiled the vncviewer myself, without building a package for it. This fixed the problems I had with =DC='s package. This was the version I referred to in today's previous post. It has an IT 2006 package attached to it. There are absolutely no improvements compared to Aaron's IT 2005 version other than it installs under IT 2006.

There are no improvements. If you run IT 2006, install my package. If you run IT 2005 install Aaron's package.

OK, it's my mistake with regard to which thread provides the 2006 version of VNC Viewer that I had installed. It was this very thread and this post within the thread http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...2&postcount=52 I must have become confused whilst reading up on how the VNC viewer worked on the Nokia 770 (What hardware keys and menus do what etc)

So as you have explained (Thanks) we replace the vncviewer_0.3.3-i_armel.deb package from =DC= with the new vncviewer_0.3-1_armel.deb from guardian_de to get all functionality provided by the original vncviewer_0.3_arm.deb package (OS 2005 only) from AaronL.

It would be a good idea if someone was to ultimately collate the valid usability information on options available from the OS2005 & 0S2006 VNC Viewer threads and/or update the wiki or include the whole VNC Viewer in Maemo garage perhaps?

Is it possible to start this vncviewer in listen mode? It appears to ignore command line parameters.
