Well, regarding the fact that the Chinook boot loader seems too old and OS2008HE is based on Chinook, I suppose there is no "latest firmware" available for 770 which can run the big kernel.

I spoke too soon - there's something else - after it fades to white and after a while, a faint blue line appears in the middle of the screen and seems like it is moving very slowly to the left. Then right before the device shuts down the blue line disappears... The line looks like the Nokia logo is compressed to one pixel row with a noise effect

New kernels based on 2.6.28-rc8, the N770 is 1.3MB so I think it should not bother the Chinook bootloader.

Update: new filesystem with enhancements
As a workaroung enable R&D to prevent turn off crash.

RC8 is acting the same as the first one... Nokia logo for 30 seconds and shutdown.

The new userspace doesn't help either

RC8 is worse than RC7. On startup, three errors occur (media messaging and acore). Then, WiFi does not even turn on, browser just crashes, feels slower, bah....

I wonder what the problem is...

Also, how do you transfer files to the device's SD card? It does not show up as a drive when plugged in.

Edit: Off topic, but in the Linux flasher, when I try to flash the stock kernel back, I get a "usb bulk write" resource unavailable or something like that. This means I have to do a full reflash from windows to restore the device. Very annoying to say the least. Is there a fix for this?

I also found an interesting problem, it does not boot with the USB plugged in sometimes.

weird, i must have some kind of firewall then...it's unable to determine the host's IP.. been trying for 3 days now and with FF, Chrome and IE7 :S

Server Failure: The name server was unable to process this query.

Esto significa que:

El caché no ha sido capaz de resolver el nombre de máquina
presente en la URL.
Compruebe que la dirección sea correcta.
