You know what would be cool is....if there was a "Magic mirror" app where they could user real time filters to cover blemishes, maybe add a little bit of virtual eye color or lip stick... or what ever...I guess it be more like an augmented reality mirror. Once you have things the way you want....take a picture.

Chicks dig that stuff....I think...

Not a biggie if it needs to be changed later.
When you find the correct flip, it will work in landscape and portrait mode equally well.

Think about what happens as you rotate a mirror slowly. Your face, as you see it, doesn't rotate :-) That's when you know you've got it right - when you can turn the phone slowly and your face still looks vertical to you, not vertical on the phone.

The only reason you might need to change the flip will be if the camera automatically flips according to the accelerometer direction. You'd need to *detect* what the camera does, and compensate to *undo* that. If the image from the camera has that bit of information, when you compensate it should look invisible to the user as the phone is turned around.

I know I've just been insulted. Can't make up my mind whether you think I'm not nice or not hot. But I'm sure I was insulted there somewhere.

(At my age, I'll settle for 'not hot')

Hey I have been lurking on these forums for the past few weeks... just waiting for the n900 to be released. I just decided to sign up, and thought I would add my two cents to this discussion.

Firstly, I am 23 years old and female. I had a n900 in my hands a few days ago... and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't a brick like I was expecting (and this is coming from somebody who looks desirably at the iphone). What I am saying is that if the right applications are made for this device, I think many other females in my demographic will catch on to the n900 also.

Here are some applications that I would like to use:

* Props to the mirror. I love that idea.

* I would totally use that time-of-month tracker. if it was made right, i would find it the most useful app ever. I also agree that the fertility tracking part would be pretty useful.

* Im not sure whats already available; but I love making lists... about anything. So if there was an application that could let you write really quick little post-it notes. I guess like Tomboy Notes, but for maemo.

* I would also use a simple household budgeting application. For example, I have a budget for how much I can spend on food each week... so i would love it if I could enter the total of my grocery shopping straight into my phone while I am still out, and then if i go out for dinner I can checkup to see how much I have left to spend, etc,... but just really simple...

* Some kind of fitness/GPS app would be good, but this has probably been discussed in other places.

* I use 'gourmet recipe manager' on ubuntu, and would think it would be great if I could use it on maemo also. Having access to my recipes in the manager while I am on holidays etc, and maybe having the shopping list function port to maemo rather than a printable file.

Thats it for now. I am not sure how many of these have already been made... I havnt looked into it that closely, but rather are just off the top of my head.

I wish I could contribute back with the developing side of things, but unfortunately my brain is not designed to understand that kind of stuff! More than happy to test stuff though (once the n900 ships).

Hope you can help me out with some of my suggestions! xx

I'm one of the developers for gcstar (http://www.gcstar.org/), which is a cross-platform open source collection manager, very similar to delicious library. I've been thinking about getting an n900 and trying to port gcstar across to it, so you can take your collections around with you
But first I've got to get hold of the phone...

Check out Conboy.

Something that could communicate with my kmymoney install on my desktop would be great. But your much more doable idea would also be handy. I don't have a overall food budget, its a good idea.

There's pyrecipe.

Anyways I think the point is women want the same sort of apps guys want. So... lets worry about making useful apps and leave the demographic analysis to the suits.
