Look at the "kmplayer" package. I assume you have the proper repository activated if you've got mplayer on your n900. Once installed, you might need need to configure kmplayer to use mplayer as the selected media engine.

Can anyone else confirm?? I've downloaded and imported into HB a few times to test.

Oh... you know what... I have an SVN version of HandBrake... let me get something more stable and try it.
Worked for me (in Linux)

So it probably is a different setting in Window.

I'll boot up my virtual installation of Windows XP and see if I can import it into that. If that fails I'll try to re-create the settings.

Either that.. or just export any other preset so I can look at the format. I have a Mac OS X vm.. but not windows. Haven't used windows in a loonnnggg time at home.

Hmm.. I can't seem to find the export function in Windows (though I know Ubuntu has one). Interesting when I try to re-create the settings it won't let me do turbo first pass.

And the audio settings are different. That might be what's causing it. I'll take a screenshot.

I did try it but it gave an odd error of flashing video when using MKV with Xvid or MPeg4(ffmpeg) video, but it does play the slow video MKV (with H264) fine, although it only picks the first audio track available and no subs. Seemed to be better off with mplayer on the command line to get some feedback on the playing.

Of course. A world without walls and fences has no need for windows and gates.

Ok everyone with windows, try this one (rename to .plist). (yay for Wine!).

Need someone to try and encode a file and play it on an N900 though if it works... this is as close as I could get it to the other one.

This imports into my wine'd Handbrake... however it doesn't check the "2-pass" box under Video. I'm not sure of that's a fail in the windows Handbrake ignoring that field or in wine.

Feedback appreciated...

ETA:
Steps to import on windows:

Open Handbrake
Click "presets" at the top
Click "Import"
Select *.plist file
Click "open"
Select "mobile-mp4" on the right
Attached Files
File Type: txt preset.txt (3.0 KB, 121 views)
