Turns out this is another bug. The patch seems to be working absolutely fine and I've managed to utilise all of my 4Gb SDHC card. You can get the kernel image here. Use it entirely at your own risk. I flashed it with:
flasher-3.0 -f -k rx-34-kernel-sdhc
