Who is your source? I don't believe that they are working on OVI map for N900 though, but may be for MeeGo for sure. N900 = abandoning project 4/5

I'm too lazy to search but the n900 was supposed to be base for MeeGo development. That's why we have the latest version of Qt and whatnot. This ensures that the developers can build apps for MeeGo while MeeGo is being developed.
Ovi Maps and the other Ovi services on symbian aren't built with Qt. As they get ported to Qt, they are brought to the n900. If Ovi Maps, with voice nav is built anytime soon, it'll be tested on the n900 and not a MeeGo device because a MeeGo device wouldn't be out or made by then. Now it is completely up to Nokia to give us this new version, it would be stupid if they didn't

MeeGo device will be out by then.. I am pretty sure that Nokia already thought this through and keeping it in the dark so that the sale of the N900 can rise a bit more than what it is now.
I think MeeGo device is already in the making right now and being tested by Nokia but no further announcement until they got a stable MeeGo OS running on it. N900 was just Nokia's guinea Pig. An experiment to see how many customers would want something computer like device before MeeGo device. So Nokia will make a MeeGO device to suit those people and also a version to suit simple users.
